I distinctly remember Melanie and Troy (or Colin? same diff, who cares) causing me to remove OLTL from my VCR programming for months on end. And in recent re-watching, I had to FF all of Dr Paige Miller, and completely bailed on 2005 to seek solace in the late 80s.

So #OLTL 1990 really isn’t good, but it’s (3 months in) not as actively unpleasant as a couple of those early 2000s years. I’ve been letting some episodes play quietly since I got home from work, not fully watching, just enjoying the old-school soap ambiance without paying close attention.

Managing pain around the clock for weeks on end really wears you down. I’m thinking a lot about the interactions I have where the other person seems rude or miserable or whatever. Reminds me to keep that whole “you never know what they’re dealing with too” thing in mind as much as possible.

By March 1990, where he’s being hateful to Viki in the name of some undercover plan to stop Carlo & Michael’s drug ring, I’m just done. Writing + acting have not worked for this character at all.

Gotta say again, I’ve enjoyed how Fraternity Row was mostly a vehicle/setting for storylines, same as The Banner or the hospital. The only time it was ever *about* FR itself was the Daisy Awards, and the stalker storyline. Even that one was as much about the drama as the gimmick. #OLTL 1990
