#StormBoelo has now kicked off properly here in #Nairn and we've just been outside bracing two fence posts which, it turns out, are not coping well. We can do quite and dirty bodging in high winds. Oh yes.
Traditional Scottish wooden plank fence with two of the posts now braced with spare planks going down to posts driven into the grass.

The version of this that's doing the round has annoyed me as Ondřej's name was in the wrong damn font. Now fixed. #PHP #XKCD
The famous XKCD cartoon about how all modern digital infrastructure, shown as a bit pile of blocks, relies on just one small bit to keep it stable. Here it's labelled as Ondřej Surý who was responsible for backporting the php2shell fix to older versions of PHP (and saved our server).

I started reading John @scalzi's "Zoe's Tale" today and this made me smile. "A girl could do worse."
Photo of page of ebook:

I glanced over at my parents about six meters away, kissing to celebrate the arrival. That seemed like a good idea. I reached my hand behind Enzo’s head to draw him to me and planted one right on his lips. Our first kiss. New world. new life, new boyfriend.

What can I say. I was caught up in the moment.

Enzo didn't complain. " ‘O brave new world, that has such people in it' " he said,
after I let him breathe again.

I smiled at him, my arms still around his neck. “You've been saving that up.” I said.

“Maybe.” he admitted. “1 wanted you to have a quality first kiss moment.”

See. Most sixteen-year-old boys would have used a kiss as an excuse to dive straight for the boobs. He used it as an excuse for Shakespeare. A girl could do worse.

[NSFW word] #wotd spunktrumpet n.
post by lan Callaghan on Facebook:

THERE IS A PARTICULAR BREED OF SANCTIMONIOUS SPUNKTRUMPET WHO CAN READ AN ENTIRE POST ABOUT A PROBLEM AFFECTING MILLIONS OF PEOPLE AND STILL MANAGE TO MAKE THE CONVERSATION ABOUT HOW FUCKING WELL THEY ARE PERSONALLY DOING.

Yesterday it was supermarkets. | wrote about shrinkflation, skimpflation, recipes being quietly nobbled, decent ingredients being replaced with cheaper shit and customers being charged more while loyalty schemes perform a small digital puppet show to convince us we have somehow won. Somewhere underneath it, of course, was the fairly obvious point that millions of ordinary people depend on supermarkets because that is how modern Britain is actually organised, rather than how Nigel with the allotment thinks it ought to be organised.

Right on cue came the answer: “Grow your own.”

There we are then. Food poverty solved before lunch.

#wotd ithyphallic adj. 1. Of or relating to the phallus carried in the ancient festival of Bacchus. 2. Having the penis erect. Used of graphic and sculptural representations. 3. Lascivious; salacious. Spotted in "We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves" by Karen Joy Fowler.

"Melissa was beginning to slip the tether. She’d just taught me a word and then made me promise not to ever say it to our parents. The word was ithyphallic. Years later, if ithyphallic had come up on the SATs, I'd have been all over it, but no such luck. It’s not really a very useful word."

An Italian militant organization "Autistici/lnventati" has been classified as a "terrorist organization” by the US government for providing “untraceable” email hosting to Anifa groups. As a result of the designation, the organization's domain auistici.org has been suspended.

As mentioned in the linked article:

In truth I wasn't likely to but a lowland whisky anyway but this one certainly won't be going on my whisky wish list ...
Screenshot of story in 'The Herald':

The new managing director of The Borders Distillery Company, which
restored whisky making to the region for the first time since 1837 and counts
Reform UK Scotland leader Malcolm Offord as a significant shareholder, has
revealed it will launch its inaugural single malt within 12 months.

Giancarlo Bianchi, who joined Borders after a “very long-term apprenticeship”
with Penderyn Distillery in Wales, declared that the distillery is “well
positioned for a strong launch”. It is forging ahead with its plans despite the
fall-out from the conflict in the Middle East and the well publicised challenges
facing the Scotch whisky industry.

The Borders Distillery Company, which counts Mr Offord and his Badenoch &
Co private investment company among shareholders, has been investing
heavily in building stock ahead of its debut single malt launch. Speaking
exclusively to The Herald, Mr Bianchi, who gained a grounding in everything
from visitor centre management and sourcing casks to sales, marketing and
operations during his time at Penderyn, said the opportunity to join the
Borders Distillery was “too good to miss”.

Storing your critical data on someone else's computer with no backups doesn't seem so smart now does it?
Reddit post to /r/LegalAdviceUK

# My son pleasured himself in front of Gemini Live with
the camera. My entire family have had our Google accounts banned.

He's 14 and stupidly decided to try and roleplay with Gemini using its live
camera mode. The Al correctly identified he was underage and Google banned
all my accounts,

He did it on the family tablet. It has parental controls to stop him watching
innapropriate stuff, but we dind't realise Gemini wasn‘t covered by these.

ALL of our entire family's Google accounts were linked to that tablet. Google:
banned them all.

Everything gone. 15 years of business completely inaccessible.

All my emails, all my documents saved in Google Drive.

Even my website was linked to my Google account and that's been locked down too.

We've written to Google and begged for it to be reinstated but they've said all
the accounts have been shut down for child protection reasons.

I don't know how I'm going to pay my mortgage in 3 months time. I've literally
lost ALL my records for my accountant. My company year ends in May.

My whole life is completely fucked.

Is there any legal mechanism I can use to get all my google accounts back?
