Centre left think they are in the ascendancy, centre right think they can out right Reform, neither will stand with the other, and so Farage will slip in, with loads of money from crypto millionaires - and we will vote for it, just like the US

I've written a big-ish piece on the rollout of plug-in solar in Britain, and some important facts being left out of nearly all coverage (I couldn't resist, sorry...) bylinetimes.com/2026/08/27/t...

The Small Print Ministers Left Out of the Plug-In Solar Announcement
A single company currently holds a monopoly on compliant devices, and planning restrictions, renter protections and grid registration rules have barely been mentioned

HG Wells is alleged to have remarked "Every time I see an adult on a bicycle, I no longer despair for the future of the human race”. You could see this shocking chart as an index of civilisation. A country which gets this issue so badly wrong is likely to fail in many other ways.

China is producing 89% of the world’s solar panels, 70% of the world’s wind turbines, 83% of the world’s batteries, and 75% of the world’s electric vehicles. And they're not involved in constant wars. Coincidence?

Rachel Reeves’ budget options: nothing popular
Reeves inherited a nightmare: austerity, Brexit, Covid, ageing population. Now she must balance the books. Here are some of the options.

We lived without social media before, just jump ship and live without it for 'a while' - watch X collapse, wait for the fallout - see what replaces it, be it Bluesky or whatever. Set up a UK government social media site for goodness sake, can't be hard ...

Really, who cares what Liz Truss thinks. The press only keep her on their pages for us, the public, to look at in amazement, like a freak in a fairground. Roll up, roll up, see the totally mad ex prime minister.

Don't understand why Labour can't do better when attacked by the media - get their ducks in a row. The farming thing would be easy to beat, the public don't fully understand the maths, so make it clearer. Winter fuel, apologise and offer a sliding scale to allow poorer pensioners to get £100.
