I've written a big-ish piece on the rollout of plug-in solar in Britain, and some important facts being left out of nearly all coverage (I couldn't resist, sorry...) bylinetimes.com/2026/08/27/t...

The Small Print Ministers Left Out of the Plug-In Solar Announcement
A single company currently holds a monopoly on compliant devices, and planning restrictions, renter protections and grid registration rules have barely been mentioned

HG Wells is alleged to have remarked "Every time I see an adult on a bicycle, I no longer despair for the future of the human race”. You could see this shocking chart as an index of civilisation. A country which gets this issue so badly wrong is likely to fail in many other ways.

China is producing 89% of the world’s solar panels, 70% of the world’s wind turbines, 83% of the world’s batteries, and 75% of the world’s electric vehicles. And they're not involved in constant wars. Coincidence?

@andrewrawnsley.bsky.social New Labour Government, Kier for Foreign Sec, Angela Rayner for Deputy, Darren Jones for Chancellor and Emily Thornberry for Prime Minister. Agree to work with Lib Dems and Greens to provide a Government for the People.

As speculation mounts over what will and won’t be in the budget, here’s a well-researched set of options Reeves potentially has and the dilemmas she faces. @eastangliabylines.co.uk

Rachel Reeves’ budget options: nothing popular
Reeves inherited a nightmare: austerity, Brexit, Covid, ageing population. Now she must balance the books. Here are some of the options.

My feed is becoming more and more American. I do not like any of the US posts, but still it is happening. Is Bsky now of no use to us in the UK, or am I just not looking for the right people to follow?

On CBC last night, I spelt out the moral case to keep on trying, however hard it might be. Defending the living planet is not an option we can abandon. Ultimately, it is all that counts. www.youtube.com/watch?v=qX2V...

I need Question Time up on Bluesky, to talk about the dreadful woman in the red jacket.

My Bluesky is full of boring pictures of moons and space and animals today, where are all the people of interest, politicians and journalists, that I follow?

Seems we can all write any old rubbish at the moment on BlueSky, just to get the thing off the ground. My tactic is to like anything anybody I like puts up.
