I wrote this quickly at a bus stop and didn't realize it would go viral, or else I would have worded it better. But the point is that the media is too credulous about AI killing everyone in 10 years (how?) when climate change is killing people now and will only get worse (we know exactly how).

I am suing the NIH. As part of a class action with the ACLU and 16 other plaintiffs, we are challenging the thousands of unlawful grant terminations in an effort to get them all reinstated. Whatever happens, at the very least, no one can say I sat back and watched while they destroyed science.

NSF has reduced the research budget for all atmospheric, ocean, and earth sciences by ~80%. 80%! A lot of us will not be conducting new research or training new students for the foreseeable future.

‘Try to Love the Questions’ block print, gold ink and graphite on old geologic map An anatomical valentine for #SciArtSeptember day 11 : #heart #maps #printmaking
A decades-old geological map with fantastic colors with various tones of pink and red as a background for a block print in deep maroon of my anatomical valentine.

There are notes in graphite and on top of this map of mineral deposits I added gold pigment ink.
