My mom worked in our school cafeteria from mid-1960s to 1990. Everything but the bread was cooked from scratch. Now, it’s all pre-packaged, highly processed food, wrapped in plastic and heated up before being put on a tray. How far we have fallen.

Not always. I've had many managers over 40+ years. I only left one because of the manager. The rest I left for advancement, for relocation, or for company policies that the manager didn't like any more than I did. And for retirement... last month! :)

I have a friend who died unexpectedly at 58 twelve days ago. He could hardly wait to celebrate. Every day on FB, he would come up with different scenarios that might lead to the end. As much as I will miss him, I'm most upset that he didn't get to celebrate the day we are rid of the orange menace.

I had a long chat with ChatGPT about malignant narcissism recently. It was eye-opening and explained a lot about why he does what he does. I can say (without any sympathy) that I can't imagine what kind of psychological torture it must be like to live as an empty human shell.

No, but I had a bare lightbulb just outside the shower shatter into a gajillion shards when I was the only one home. I was, of course, naked and barefoot & scared to step outside. Instead, I slow-mo, old lady parkoured onto the toilet, the hamper, & then the washer & dryer to avoid the slivers.
