Today I completed a little painting of the worker’s cottage at Port Sunlight Museum. Tinged with a sunlight soap glow. Go to the museum and explore inside the cottage, which is furnished in period style. I’m hoping to do an interior view of it one day. #painting #wirral

PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT It’s the last day to vote for my painting ‘The Hotel California, Birkenhead’ in the VAO international art finals. Romantic, but not rose tinted, and not the kind of place that usually gets international attention. visual-artists.org/vao26-people... #merseyside #painting

I missed my train back from Port Sunlight a spent the time admiring The Tea Rooms opposite the station. Once the village post office, now a carefully stewarded piece of ‘forever England’. I particularly like the phone boxes. Painted in a warm 20th century glow on wood panel. #painting #portsunlight

3 days left to vote for my painting ‘The Hotel California, Birkenhead’ in the VAO international art finals. It’s a love letter to gritty Birkenhead. Romantic, but not rose tinted, and not the kind of view that usually gets international attention. visual-artists.org/vao26-people... #merseyside

I moved to Liverpool 5yrs ago and started painting art of #everton last year. Met so many 💙blues who’ve become collectors of my work. Painted The Blue House live on match day with Gary @northresidentart.bsky.social and met the fans. Tried being neutral but can resist fate no longer #Upthetoffees

Yesterday I finished painting the graveyard of St Mary’s Church in Woolton. My painting isn’t sombre, but fills the space with light and colour. The old stones celebrate lives well lived, sheltered by the church and trees. #graveyard #liverpool #painting
Colourful panoramic view with gravestones in the foreground and the gables of a simple church beyond. The graveyard is surrounded by trees, broken through with shafts of light.

Today’s plein-air painting done with The Liverpool Artists is of Papillon on the corner of Falkner Street and Hope street. I made sure the cathedral is in the background of the view. The painting captures the warm, bright day and almost Parisian air in its colourful palette. #liverpool #painting

It was really lovely to meet up with Simon. We discussed how art and place design have informed each other in my professional working and creative life. On reflection, I think the notions of making a collage and working with what we have are central to this.

Glowing modernist cathedral contrasts with surrounding historic buildings and a dark purple sky.
