In past years, the flags have corresponded one-to-one with runner heritages

The same image of the yellow gate and start/finish area of the Barkley from the quoted post, with added digital images of flags corresponding to the flags hung up near the gate. On the left there are the flags of Japan, Algeria, and the UK. On the right there are the flages of Sweden, France, and the USA. More flags are in the background, but too small to be recognized.
