DOE's draft 2026 National Transmission Needs Study: connecting the Southeast to PJM and MISO would cut prices here about $10/MWh on average, up to $28/MWh in extreme weather years. DOE also notes the Southeast is the only region that hasn't already addressed at least one of its transmission needs.

My key takeaway from last night: Utilities are deeply unpopular and honestly have been for some time. Politicians in both parties should be extremely wary of taking utility money and tying their political futures to these monopolies. It is… risky, to say the least.

Georgia Commissioner Tim Echols says regulators will reduce Georgia Power's fuel costs by "$16 next year". But Ga. Power's own data shows that it is UNDER RECOVERED by almost $1 billion on fuel costs. Either he's flat wrong or we're in store for another election year gimmick.
