Let's talk about atmospheric perspective. As the distance between an object and a viewer increases, the contrast between the object and its background decreases. The colors of the object also desaturate and shift toward the background color. On a foggy day like today, with a lot of water in the air to scatter the light, you can see it much closer up!

Look at us! Because I'm closest to you, my colors are distinct from the background. And because there's more air between you and Emery, he looks much more blue, despite wearing a red coat! And Wick practically disappears into the mist! You can barely see him against the background.

In digital art, you can create this effect of depth with gradient map layers, screen layers, or by putting the background color over the object on a normal low opacity layer. You can see here what we used! Even I've got a screen layer to make me fit in better! Attach these as clipping layers to your subjects' layers, and they won't affect the background!

Here's how we all look with the effects layers! What d'you think? Pretty flat-looking, huh?

"New Rise"🌙 === Starting off with my persona Tailsy and her pet goose North! I found that last year I did a lot of night drives after work where I got so ecstatic any time a full moon brushed on the horizon. also me and the moon are totes getting married, mark my words! #painting
