At it's core, 10,000 SWORDS AGAINST HEAVEN is NOT about presenting xia, buddhas, bodhisattvas, demigods, semidevils, and other martial heroes and villains as revolutionary, but rather Revolutionaries and the united Working Class as xia, buddhas, bodhisattvas, demigods, semidevils, martial heroes, and villains.
The term for this time by almost every scholar and theorist and historian across the Trichiliocosm is a variation of the same thing: they call it the Red Kalpa.

the core of 10kSWORDS' battle system is the INTERRUPT. since battle progresses through Actions instead of Turns, anyone can take their Action by interrupting another person. but this means you won't be able to act later down the line

At any point during someone's Action, another Combatant else can spend their Action to perform an Interrupt. The original actor cannot interrupt themselves.
The Interrupt happens at any point in the Action, as chosen by the Interruptor.
Can only use 1 Action to React. Never 2 or more.
If two or more combatants want to Interrupt the same Action, they must make GAMBLE: all that wish to interrupt must roll d6. The highest roll gets to Interrupt.
An Interrupt can itself be Interrupted. The second Interrupt happens at any point in the 1s Interrupt, as chosen by the Interruptor. The cascade ends there: no one can Interrupt the 2nd Interrupt. Tre can only be up to 2 Interrupts.
Resolve the Actions according to the Cascade: 1st Interrupt → 2nd Interrupt → Action
Some uses of this include...
+ Interposing one's self in between an ally and an opponent to take their attack or block it for them.
+ Another person interrupting to make an Attack at a target's hand or weapon to weaken their incoming attack.
+ Attacking an incoming attack to parry it.
* Applying a magick barrier to someone right as they're hit by an attack.
If the target of the original Action is no longer a valid target, the Action still goes off but hits no one. Essentially wasting the attack.

the game is focused around breaking apart the opponent team's defenses by interrupting. it is important to note that in this game there is technically no action economy: you get 3 actions and there's no action list for it. every action is an "improvised" action
