Going to have to stop listening to @aptshadow.bsky.social and @emmanewman.bsky.social's amazing podcast Starship Alexandria because they keep making me buy things. The way they discuss the chosen work when they have both loved it, just makes you want to see what they're talking about.
A photo of the hardback edition of the graphic novel 'Helen of Wyndhorn. The cover features a 1930s styled women, the eponymous Helen, sitting on a tussock with a small bag by her feet, in front of an imposing gothic mansion (Wyndhorn). The are dead trees looking like giant claws, whilst the image of a sword and a long haired man are blended into the image.

The cover (and the whole book) is beautifully illustrated

Share a TV show you love from the 1960's. 📺 My Choice - The Man from U.N.C.L.E.
Picture of Robert Vaughan as Napoleon Solo, David McCallum as Ilya Kuryakin and Leo G Carroll as their boss, Alexander Waverly.

They are standing in front of an extremely pink set, with the acronym U.N.C.L.E. visible behind them (United Network Command for Law Enforcement).

Loved watching this show when I was growing up. Was a favourite of my father's.

Have just finished 'A Sword of Gold and Ruin' by @annasmithspark.bsky.social and my brain is honestly a mess. I don't know what to think, I don't know how I feel, it has completely overwhelmed me. That I have just seen there will be a final book in this series is absolutely joyful
An image of Anna Smith Spark's book, A Sword of Gold and Ruin, the sequel to A Sword of Bronze and Ash.

It is a beautiful book, with a mother and her daughter (who I take to be Kanda and her daughter Calian) with drawn swords. Kanda has her left hand on the pommel as the sword point rests on the ground with her hand on her daughter's shoulder, whilst Calian has both hands on the hilt of her sword as it points at a 45 degree angle down towards the ground.

Behind them are twisted tree trunks and the shadows of huge dogs (Mannan and Camryth).

The title is picked out in large bold gold lettering with a white bordering.

The pages are beautifully edged in yellow.

I love this book.

To honour @monkeymagiceden.bsky.social's forthcoming new series for @pretendwithdice.bsky.social where he will be GM-ing, paid a visit today to Cerne Abbas, where I think his first adventure as GM for PwD was set
Photo of the Cerne Abbas giant. A chalk figure on a green hill will bright blue sky.

The figure is a huge naked man, holding a huge club and an impressive erect penis.

If you zoom in, there are figures under a gazebo and on the chalk figure itself as it's being rechalked

"Friends" is a beloved American sitcom that aired from 1994-2004, following six young adults-Rachel, Ross, Monica, Chandler, Joey and Phoebe--living in New York City. The show explores their friendships, romances, careers and personal growth over ten seasons.

Calvin and Hobbes
Calvin and Hobbes strip in 4 boxes.

In the first box, Calvin, a young boy, is on a walk with his pet tiger Hobbes and asks Hobbes "if you could wish for anything, what would it be?"

In the second, Hobbes sits down on some grass and replies "A big sunny field to be in".

In the third box, Calvin has thrown his arms up in despair and shouts "A STUPID FIELD? You've got that now! THINK BIG! Riches! Power! Pretend you could have ANYTHING!"

In the final box, there is a tree in the background with Hobbes lying fast asleep on his back in front of it. Hobbes is curled into a crescent moon shape, with his legs in the air and his front paws flopped adorably downwards.

Hobbes has a wide grin on his face as Calvin looks at him lying there and says"Actually it's hard to argue with someone who looks so happy."

Drop some HAIRSTYLES
Images of Gary Oldman and Chris Tucker from The Fifth Element with 2 bizarre hairstyles.

The right side of Gary Oldman's head is shaved whilst had on the top of his head sweeps down dramatically to his left cheekbone and then proceeds to the back of his head at ear height.

Chris Tucker's hair is bleached blond, with a 6-8 inch tube of this bleached blond hair protuding from the very top centre of his forehead.

They both very much scream "cinematic future" hairstyles

Image taken from Young Sherlock Holmes, where an old priest, lighting candles in a church, is poisoned by a dart and starts hallucinating. A knight in a stained glass window comes to life and jumps down to the ground, where he is seen advancing on the old priest with his sword in his hand and murder in his eyes.

Clint Eastwood, in his most iconic role as the Squadron Leader, ending the terror of the giant Tarantula before it could destroy the town of Desert Rock
A black and white still of a young Clint Eastwood from the film Tarantula. The shot is taken as if looking back from the control stick.

Clint is wearing a fighter pilot's helmet and the lower portion of his face is covered with a pilot's oxygen mask.

Riveted struts of the cockpit frame the picture, whilst you can see the sky with wispy clouds behind.

Even here, you can see the piercing stare that would become his trademark.

Llyn Mwyngil, Wales
Photo of a particularly still lake in Wales, where the landscape and sky is completely reflected by the lake.

Hills rise gently on both sides of the lake, whilst rolling clouds fill the sky. There is a small green and orange boat on the lake in the midground (water). On the left bank, there is a small wood and on the right, a few buildings.

It was very peaceful.
