Doubt it. I have been following most of the people mentioned for ’28 and if anything Whitmer is less visible, which is for the best. She has had a tough year and Michigan’s economy and other metrics have declined. Shapiro is a different story. I think he runs.

It is good she is no longer mentioned for 2028. Good on social policy, but everything else is really lacking.

Just baffling people think this. She is awful on the issues. People see what they want to see with a lot of these centrist Democrats. Ossoff is another one. Look at their actual positions. They matter.

They aren’t where the Dem base is anymore. You make it harder for yourself if you don’t read polls. Corporate centrism is unpopular. Why obsess about out of touch politicians when the Dems have so many choices?

lol what? No Democrat should be meeting with Trump, but Mamdani got a man freed from detention. Meanwhile, Trump blocks the opening of the Gordon Howe Bridge in Michigan bc a billionaire wants him to.

Spanberger, Whitmer, Ossoff, and Shapiro are all likely pretty close to Schumer and the old guard on the issues. Just swapping out old neoliberals for younger ones is not the answer. Go AOC!

Glad to see props for LBJ but it would be nice if Gretchen “let them eat cake” Whitmer adopted some of these populist policies, instead of corporate subsidies and tax breaks and polluting data centers.

Dr. King called the white moderate the "greatest stumbling block in the stride toward freedom" — more dangerous than open racists because they hide behind caution and comfort. Governors Sherrill, Spanberger, Whitmer, and Polis are still proving him right 63 years later. Read my full analysis.

She looked like a deer in the headlights in Munich and had to ask Trump’s NATO Ambassador to bail her out on a question about Ukraine. She is personable, but lacks depth, which is why the media obsession with her is bizarre.

Democrats have been so obsessed rules and norms that they have neutered their fighting instincts. It is great that they run basically clean administrstions, but a Merrick Garland is the result of this kind of thinking. Wanting to APPEAR good can lead to dangerous inaction.

This kind of transactional politics with an authoritarian is bad. No Democrats should be doing it and legitimizing this is dangerous. But Whitmer got reamed more for panicking and covering her face. Zohran is ridiculously self-possessed for someone so young.

AOC is a more legit 2028 candidate now and is seen (correctly!) as more of a threat to the status quo, hence the desire to harp on every statement. Whitmer, who has been a good Gov, has been exposed as a bit of a lightweight on bigger stages, but she isn’t a threat to business as usual so….yawns.

Love AOC. Except for the silly uproar over Taiwan, thought she did well at Munich. Whitmer was out of her depth, however. She comes across as a bit clueless and is probably just a regional politician. AOC also really outshone Gavin.

It is with deep sadness that I have to report the passing of Chip Berlet. He was one of the few people to consistently research and organize against the U.S. Far Right from the 1970s through the '00s. His co-authored 2000 book "Right-Wing Populism in America" unfortunately remains all-to-relevant.

Thinking about the time Kankakee, Connecticut was rated the worst city in which to live in the US, so David Letterman gave them a gazebo. But then that wasn’t enough to get them promoted, and he gave them a second gazebo. So they could be “Kankakee, Connecticut: The Home of the Twin Gazebos.”
