v0.26.0: Transactions That Span Runs, a Command Palette That Acts, and Themes That Reach Every Pixel | Tabularis Blog
v0.26.0 keeps a PostgreSQL transaction open across runs of the same tab, turns the command palette into an action surface, routes every UI color through the theme with WCAG AA checks in CI, and cancel...

🎨 Themes actually apply everywhere now: banners, corners, row states in the grid, the ER diagram. Every built-in theme also passes WCAG AA contrast ✅ and CI checks it on every PR so it stays that way.

⌨️ Ctrl/Cmd+K does things now, not just jump to tables. Run the query, copy a column as an IN (...) list, copy all rows, switch to another saved connection. Shortcuts can be remapped, and it tells you when two of them collide.

Tabularis 0.26.0 is out 🎉 The one we wanted for a long time: a Postgres tab now keeps its transaction between runs 🐘 BEGIN, look at the rows, COMMIT later. The tab gets a TX badge while it's open, and closing it rolls back.

Your database is behind an AWS managed node? Connect through AWS SSM Session Manager, alongside SSH and Kubernetes. Set your managed node, AWS profile and region. Test the tunnel before connecting. Credentials come from your AWS CLI. (2/4)
Tabularis connection settings with the AWS SSM tab selected. AWS SSM Port Forwarding is enabled, with fields for Managed Node, AWS Profile and AWS Region. A hint identifies the remote-host forwarding document and database target. The Test SSM button checks the tunnel without connecting to the database.

Which query is still running? The tab icon turns into a spinner in the connection's accent colour while a query executes, and it stays visible when you're working on another tab. Notebooks join in: one running cell keeps it lit until everything finishes.

v0.23.0: The PostgreSQL Plugin Takes Over From the Built-in Driver, SQL Files Open in Editor Tabs, and a Data Folder You Can Sync | Tabularis Blog
v0.23.0 lets plugins ship their own Visual EXPLAIN parsers, which is what the new SQL Server plugin (1.0.0-beta.1) needs, opens, edits and saves .sql files in editor tabs without executing them, moves...

The built-in PostgreSQL driver is deprecated. A migration flow moves your connections to the PostgreSQL plugin, one by one or in bulk, tests them, and always offers Undo. Nothing moves unless you click. Underneath, Visual EXPLAIN gained a parser registry plugins fill at runtime.
Tabularis Connections page. A dismissible banner reads "Try the new PostgreSQL plugin", mentions the built-in driver retirement (tentatively 2026-10-05) and has a "Review connections" link. Below it, connection cards; one carries a Deprecated badge next to its driver chip.

The SQL editor opens .sql files from disk. The file becomes a tab bound to its path, nothing runs on open, Ctrl/Cmd+S saves it back. Settings → Storage moves the whole data folder. Point it at iCloud Drive or Dropbox and a second machine picks up the same connections.
Screen recording of the Tabularis SQL editor. The folder icon in the tab strip opens a file picker, a .sql file becomes a new tab titled with its name, a line is typed and an amber dot marks the tab as unsaved, Ctrl+S saves it and the dot disappears. The save split button menu shows Save, Save As and Add to Saved Queries.Tabularis Settings, Storage tab. The Data folder card shows the default location with "Change folder…" and "Open folder" buttons, a warning about running two instances on the same folder, and a note on the TABULARIS_DATA_DIR environment variable with an example.
