Was in Ghana for two weeks visiting my partner's family, and made a visit to the Nkyinkyim Installation (ky is 'ch') of the Ancestor Project, by Kwame Akoto-Bamfo. Haunting work, especially the pool representing those captives who drowned at sea. Reparations can't come soon enough.
A memorial honoring those African captive slaves who drowned at sea. Clay busts of African men and women stand partially submerged in a pool, surrounded by cloth-wrapped sacred trees.Clay busts of African men and women partially submerged in a pool of water, their expressions conveying resignation, despair, anguish. Many bear iron collars and other instruments of subjugation.Clay busts of African men and women, honoring captives taken by slavers who died far from home. Many are chained or collared, some seem frozen in a scream of anguish, while others seem resigned or stoic to their suffering.

My tanuki exemplar, who will wear a sake barrel as his wooden breastplate and use its lid as a shield, brandishing his tanto menacingly/adorably. Haven't yet decided on a suitably derpy name just yet. #ttrpg #Pathfinder2e

I'd like to take advantage of #PortfolioDay to unveil my WIP's cover art and to shout out the artist: Re'em Camargo. They were wonderful to work with, and more of their art can be found here: reemcamargo.artstation.com Below is the cover art commissioned for The Spirit Princess! #art, #fantasyart
The cover art for The Spirit Princess, depicting the main characters - Zaphura and Alimazi - standing back-to-back and surrounded by the grasping claws of darkness. Alimazi brandishes a radiant spear of sunsteel, while Zaphura holds her adamantine staff and holy mask.

#AprilWorldbuilders - 2 Alcibiades the dwarf uses a jezzail as his primary weapon. The jezzail once belonged to his lover, Mazaa, who'd taken the priceless heirloom with her when she fled her home. She gave it to Alcibiades on her deathbed, on the condition that he never return it to her family.
April Worldbuilders prompts - for today: Weapon used by a side character of the villain.

Shoulder. If it was a horse, the highlighted region would also be referred to as a shoulder. However, if you're looking for something less awkward than 'upper/lower shoulders' or 'front/rear hips', and you're not talking about specific bones, you could just say it's the centaur's withers.
Basic anatomy diagram of a horse, showing the location of its shoulders as matching the area in question.

The Spirit Princess: A godless priestess and her love interest, a giant warrior princess, work to escape a murderous cult and unravel an ancient mystery that has damned countless generations. Folklore, action, adventure, horror, wlw without unnecessary drama! #QuestPit, #A, #F, #amquerying

I apparently really like designing and writing main characters that introduce logistical challenges into commonplace interactions. Example 1) A woman who is short for a human (5'2") with a lover who is tall for what is essentially a goliath (8'6"). Want to kiss? The big lady had better be sitting.
A height comparison chart approximating the visual difference/scale between a 5'2" woman and a 8'5" woman.

In lieu of socializing, I spent my New Year's Eve drawing and inking this! I was trying to decide what a Nubian-inspired couatl would look like for my setting - initially I thought to use Wadjet as a reference point, but Wadjet represented Lower Egypt (aka the furthest region from Nubia) (1)
A black-and-white, pencil & ink drawing of a lion-headed divine serpent, after the style of Meroitic gods like Apedemak and Menhit.

CWs for violence!
A snippet of text from my WIP:

Reckless anger, combined with a continuing sense of inexplicable empowerment, drove Zaphura to reach through her barrier and plunge her hand into one of the bulgu’s featureless eyes. As the demon howled with pain, a flurry of fleeting visions passed through Zaphura’s mind. Hundreds of different hands touched just as many different foes, each of whom succumbed to rot and decay.
“Jenik onya!” Zaphura screamed.
At once, necrotic energy flooded into the demon’s body, forcing a hideous death rattle from its collapsing lungs. The bulgu’s flesh bubbled with pustules before sloughing from its bones. The hollow armor and brittle skeleton left in the wake of Zaphura’s spell quickly collapsed and crumbled to dust.

The Planescape Factol's Manifesto. Lots of great lore and hooks for players and GMs alike. Spent a lot of time on the streets of Sigil:
The cover of the Factol's Manifesto, displaying the badges of Sigil's Factions, as of 2nd Edition.

Recreated Sun Wukong in Age of Wonders 4. Went stone-skin transformation because Sun Wukong *is* a stone monkey, along with supergrowth (he can become enormous in the book), and the Tome of Prosperity/Discipline buffs, to represent his eventual enlightenment. Was a very fun build.
Sun Wukong built via Age of Wonders 4 - a giant of a monkey with stony skin, glowing eyes, and his trusty staff (actually a glaive).

Since the follows have been crazy today, I'll share a work of art I did last year - still one of my favorites so far, though. Its a depiction of Ayida-Wedo, the Rainbow Serpent of the Vodoun Religion and its diasporic offshoots.
Ayida-Wedo, the Rainbow Serpent of the Vodoun Religion, appears amid rainbows and rainclouds. Though her feathers are rainbow hued, her scales are largely white - representing her male alter-ego/twin/husband Damballa, whom she always appears with.

So...uh...I'm not going to make a habit of posting numbers, cause it feels like a humblebrag or something, but I was at *97* this morning. The power of getting included in a starter pack, apparently!

When Zaphura took her first step into the Marrow Waste, she felt as though she had stepped into another reality altogether. Humidity, warmth, and the ever-present sounds of the rainforest had been left behind in the tunnel. On the other side of the Westwall, the land was chilly, dry, and silent. The air tasted stale and smelled repulsive, but not in any way that Zaphura could readily explain.
With her second step, she noticed that the foothills were surprisingly springy beneath her feet, and covered in thin, black grass. Curious, she prodded the ground with her staff, and watched as it dimpled under pressure rather than gouging like dirt. Zaphura frowned a bit and willed the end of her staff into a sharper point, before jabbing it into the ground more forcefully. The ground beneath her staff parted, and viscous black blood began oozing up from the wound.
It’s hair. Hair and skin and blood, she realized as she tried to fight down a rising wave of nausea.
“H-how does one even track across…ground like this?” she asked the group, hoping in vain to be distracted from her discovery.
“Moving quickly means harder steps, which means bruises.” Ez replied, crouching down and training her keen eyes across the nearby landscape. “Hairs also get torn out, and take some time to grow back.”
“Oh gods…why did I ask–” Zaphura muttered, before heaving a mouthful of bile out onto the ground.

Just finished inking the linework for my second short story's cover art. It shows Eshu-Legba smoking a pipe carved in the style of Yoruba masks to depict his Asante alter-ego/counterpart/friend, Anansi. More on the figures in the smoke once I finish and post the story.

I'm not super familiar with the Book of Esther, but I've included a map of the Achaemenid Empire. A cursory look on the interwebs claims that said empire was still at its greatest territorial extent during the reign of Xerxes I (Ahasuerus), so it seems the Book of Esther was more or less correct.
