This is wonderful news for my many sons and daughters
A very janky photo of my babies, from left to right: Captain Zeon's Nu Gundam (HG), Wing Gundam ver.KA (RG), Ground-Type Gundam (HG), Vanilla Wing Gundam (EG), Jegan (MG), Aerial (HG), squad of 0080-style GMs (HG), and the Nu Gundam (EG). Not pictured: two Gelgoogs and a Gouf, plus a GP01 Gundam getting panel-lined in my office (all HGs)

Did AI cut this hot dog bun
A hot dog bun on a plate. Rather than one cut straight down the middle, two cuts have been made off the center, meaning it can hold two hot dogs twice as poorly but one hot dog also twice as poorly.

I like to highlight when storytellers nail realistic sibling behavior, and @planetx.bsky.social did so beautifully
A panel from the comic GALAXY: THE PRETTIEST STAR by Jadzia Axelrod, illustrated by Jess Taylor. Two characters, brother and sister, share an emotional hug. The brother says, "David Bowie had to die to win best album at the Grammy's." His sister, smiling, responds, "You can $%#@ right off."

A very official screengrab of Atomic Robo wondering out loud, "Why do we even have the paradox of tolerance?" while Doctor Yumeno looks on aghast, saying, "A fucking fascist in the senate? But how?!" (Please don't sue me, Brian Clevinger.)

This got pretty dang close. I always thought living in New Mexico in middle school gave me my linguistic quirks, but I guess it was going to Maine during the summers before then?

J Jonah Jameson when he realizes Spider-Man agrees with him
A man narrows his eyes in a mix of suspicion, trepidation, and internal horror as he realizes the worst person he knows actually made a good point.

No cheating, post your lock screen (Art by @gorangligovic.bsky.social, not a big Tolkien guy myself but I just loved it too much not to use it)
A screencap of my lock screen, featuring an alternate cover of J. R. R. Tolkien's THE HOBBIT with art by Golan Gligovic. The dwarves and a little hobbit follow Gandalf across a misty, rock-filled path, while a mountain behind them glows as it catches the last rays of the setting sun.

For maximum confusion, always beef with someone who shares your name but who has literally no other qualities in common with you I present your perfect celebrity opponent:
Wilson the volleyball from CASTAWAY, right before his Oscar snub pushed him into doing hard drugs and a revolving door on rehab. He seemed to get his life in order for a little bit, seemed like he'd get the good ol' Hollywood redemption arc, but then he started shilling for crypto and is now a big mouthpiece for AI, Polymarket, and some really icky far-right causes.

Besides the Galactica, there was the Ring Ship™ and then all the other scrubs
A lawn dart-shaped spaceship with a large (rotating?) ring section at the rear, from Battlestar Galactica. It's actual name is the Zephyr, according to the nerds who run the wiki I stole this image from, but all the real ones call it the Ring Ship™

Ahem
The USS Enterprise-B, a refit Excelsior-class starship. It has a distinct art deco, White Fleet aesthetic with teal flashes and gentle curves. Combined with the maroon uniforms of the era, it's (in)arguably the classiest vessel to bear the name Enterprise.

I get in that mood sometimes. I've been cruising through the audiobook of FIRE SEASON by Philip Connors. It's a collection of essays about his career as a fire lookout in the Gila Mountains of NM, very contemplative about the dangers therein
The cover for Philip Connors's "Fire Season: Field Notes From a Wilderness Lookout," read by Stan Runnette. It depicts a lookout tower in the middle of a forest silhouetted by a setting sun.

The DVD cover of Hot Fuzz, directed by Edgar Wright and co-written by Wright and Simon Pegg. It depicts the film's two main characters in tactical body armor, wielding firearms, and walking through an explosion. The movie poster for The Bourne Ultimatum, directed by Paul Greengrass and written by Tony Gilroy, Scott Burns, and George Nolfi. Though I guess, if you forced me to choose one show in particular...
Ma'ah and Malor from Star Trek: Lower Decks. While they serve as an example of embracing multiple cultural interpretations of Klingons in a single show, I think the series overall does a great job at portraying the breadth of Klingon society while demonstrating why their culture works as a foil for Starfleet

A little Trans Day of Visibility kismet on the timeline
Screenshot: a skeet by Emily Gorcenski suggesting that trans people should be allowed to develop cloaking technology and cross the Romulan Neutral Zone with impunity. Immediately following Emily's skeet is one by Jadzia Axelrod, in which Galaxy (the superhero) is shocked to learn she is, in fact, on the visible spectrum. Hilarity ensues in the juxtaposition.

Joyce, who is definitely not getting up to Lesbian Shenanigans™ in her dorm room later, is saying the above comment word-for-word, canonically, in the Eisner-nomimated Dumbing of Age webcomic. As drawn with correct plaid by writer and illustrator I forgot, the bit is already getting away from me.

Like ffs if your argument is that I'm short-sighted because I don't want to drop a grand on a new pocket devil every year, then you've already lost your argument that the system demanding this of me is worth preserving Just tax the billionaires and gtfo
Excerpt from the article: "While squeezing as much life out of your device as possible may save money in the short run, especially amid widespread fears about the strength of the consumer and job market, it might cost the economy in the long run, especially when device hoarding occurs at the level of corporations."
