If the Americans want a name for the lake that represents their country perhaps they should rename it to Lake Palantir or Lake Epstein. Personally I think it would make things more accurate.

Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention they also appear to be aggressively deleting user data, particularly older chats with characters considered "inactive." So saying Chai’s cost-cutting efforts are aggressive would be an understatement.

ThatOneUnoriginal @t1u.bsky.social · 16/06/2026

That’s not to say Character AI hasn’t also become more aggressive with monetization. It has added its own limits and retired earlier models to cut costs. AI is becoming harder to sustain financially, and the first platforms feeling pressure are often those with less reliable external funding.

ThatOneUnoriginal @t1u.bsky.social · 16/06/2026

Not long ago, Chai was often praised as one of the larger, more serious alternatives to Character AI. But with increasingly aggressive monetization—like daily chat limits and Pro characters making up the majority of the platform—is it still the alternative people have been looking for?

ThatOneUnoriginal @t1u.bsky.social · 16/06/2026

Haven’t followed #Chai AI for a while, but checked back recently and saw they’ve rolled out another website redesign and heavily expanded monetization. Rising costs are hitting AI platforms, and it’s only a matter of time before they start affecting others like JanitorAI.

H.R. 7661 is a national book banning bill which seeks to remove any book that "involves gender dysphoria or transgenderism" from all public schools in the US. This would ban all my books, & any other book with trans themes, from public schools. PLEASE call your House Reps & say: NO ON H.R. 7661!
