9/11 is a day of mourning, yet for us, it is also a call to recognize our humanity—both within ourselves and in each other—and to never stop striving for a better world for all of us, not just a privileged few. A world where we can all truly live free.

In the shadow of the PATRIOT Act, we've witnessed the rise of a surveillance state where private corporations erect cameras in our neighborhoods to intimidate and monitor all of us at the behest of fascists, alongside algorithms that keep us confused, angry, and divided.

Moreover, how many have been held to account for the lies, for the war crimes committed in our names? How many continue profiting off our deaths? How many more bodies must be broken? How many more of us have to die? And today, 25 years later, how dare they ask us to do it all again?

We also grieve the 2,400 service members and the estimated 40,000 Afghan civilians killed in the War in Afghanistan. How many have received justice for the violence committed against them? Why are so many of our veterans homeless, unable to obtain the care & support they need?

According to the WTC Health Program, some 145,000 people are being monitored or treated in the wake of 9/11. How many can afford healthcare? How many were plunged into poverty or unable to work? How many lives could improve if politicians chose to focus on us instead of on donors or war?

Many of those at Ground Zero were ordinary people, working jobs to make ends meet in a system that caters to the wealthy. Any other day, these people wouldn’t have been honored, but expected to produce, receiving little to no recognition for their labor and, in most cases, barely enough to live.

Today, we reflect on the tragic events of September 11, 2001 and grieve the nearly 3,000 innocent lives taken by the acts of terror enacted on that day. As we continue to heal, we are also reminded of the tens of thousands of others killed, harmed or affected in the aftermath of the attacks.

They don’t even try to hide it: once corporate lobbyists put their gas soaked thumbs on the scale, Kathy Hochul fast-tracked new pipelines. That’s who this governor really serves. Hit the link in bio to sign up for an event & plug into the fight to take our power back. 😤💪🌹

BREAKING
Fossil Fuel Front
Claims Credit for Hochul's
Pro-Fossil Fuel Shift
By Katya Schwenk | Aug 28, 2026At a fossil fuel industry conference in April, the pipeline-backed group Natural Allies for a Clean Energy Future took credit for Hochul's change of heart, boasting of "high-level engagement" with her office. According to the group's executive director, Susan Waller, Natural Allies provided the governor's office with in-house polling on New Yorkers' views on natural gas shortly before Hochul's announcement."They had their pollsters call our pollster and sit down and go through it,"
Waller told a crowd of fossil fuel executives and lobbyists. "And within a very short time - weeks - Kathy Hochul went with all of the above."
According to slides and audio of Waller's presentation reviewed by The Lever, Hochul's flip-flop marked a victory for Natural Allies and its corporate benefactors' aggressive 2026 political strategy amid changing headwinds in the Democratic Party: "Leveraging concern about affordability to change the politics around natural gas."The materials provide an inside look into how pipeline companies and fossil fuel interests, eyeing the fault lines running through the Democratic Party, are trying to quell the party's burgeoning populist wing, win the support of establishment actors like Hochul, and build, in their words, a
"bulwark against the far-left."
