I was looking at statistics from a few places just on life expectancy - the place linked sources from the UN and has a nice chart. And you're right! Women's life expectancy increased dramatically as well. I focused on the men largely because men seem to be the most anti-divorce.

Anyway one interesting thing is that life expectancy for men in the US was fairly stagnant until the seventies, and then around when no fault divorce was introduced it increased DRAMATICALLY in the space of a few years. In the rest of the world there was just a normal curve.

I haven't kept very close track of the narratives for this but it feels VERY CONCERNING that they're trying to tie this to no fault divorce allowing people in bad marriages to break it off. "You're gonna have to talk to your bad parents and stick with your bad spouse."

Extra fun (related) fact: When Tesla developed the Model S, the screen they specced was bigger than any existing automotive grade screen. Automotive grade means the screens can survive extreme temperatures. They just bought non-automotive grade screens. So the screens in early Teslas melt.

They're not custom touchscreens, it's all off-the-shelf components. Buttons are cheap when produced at scale, but for a smaller manufacturer - as Tesla was during development - the cost of developing custom switchgear can be extremely expensive. That's why a Pagani Zonda uses Rover switches.

WAY too big and WAY too tall. I mean, I'm rejecting the EV5 out of hand because it's too much of an SUV, a full-sized truck is right out. The Fathom is promised to be cheap and looks smaller than a Maverick, which makes me curious. But even that might be too truck in the end.
