Was a mission to see @realgdt.bsky.social's Pan's Labyrinth (in 3D) today, especially with Cineplex having tech difficulties but I made it! Still have my ticket stub when I saw it back in 2007, when it was nationally released in Canada. It has left an impression on me ever since ✨

A ticket stub for the 20th anniversary of Guillermo del Toro's Pan's Labyrinth is held up in front of the showtime poster which is tinted blue. The showtime poster has the film title and a graphic image from the film on it. There is also the screening time and "cleaning" at the top area.

2 film ticket stubs. There is a small blue one on top that is mostly faded but some details are noticeable, such as, the year (2007), the time (1:45p), the price ($10.50), and part of the film title (xxx's Labyrinth). The ticket stub under it is white and has a black bar with text on it that reads "Guillermo del Toro's". The film showtime (3:30pm), date (Oct 11, 2026), and price ($14.68) is on it.

With alt text from the original post this quoted post is quoting from. Glad this is all backfiring on Ed Sheeran. We still need to put blame on Robert Kraft too.

Instagram text post by @beogamusic, which reads:

"We have made the decision to depart as Ed Sheeran's band on the remaining US Loop tour, following the silencing of Macklemore by zionist lobbies.

We are a traditional Irish band who never saw ourselves playing in stadiums of that size and that opportunity is not lost on us. We have been friends with Ed for over 10 years now and will continue to be. We believe in dialogue as a means of progressing the plight of the Palestinian people."

Instagram text post by @beogamusic, which reads:

"As musicians, playing to those crowds every night is the stuff of dreams but to play in venues that silence anyone advocating for a Free Palestine is simply not an option for us.

It's important that everyone knows that the real enemy is the zionist lobby. They have worked tirelessly to silence artists who want to speak freely about a genocide happening before our eyes, for fear of retribution.

Research how much Robert Kraft has done to fight the BDS movement. That will give you a sense of what we've all been up against.

We were there for Macklemore's performance and speech. We fully supported his message, so did most of the audience in Met Life Stadium which terrifies the lobbies. Go back and read the transcript if you're in doubt."

Instagram text post by @beogamusic, which reads:

"We are Irish people who understand colonialism. As founding members of the Irish Artists For Palestine movement, we are committed activists for justice and will continue to be.

This whole episode is once again serving to distract from the real issue, over 1000 Palestinians have been killed since the most recent so-called ceasefire.

Up the workers.

Free Palestine.

BEOGA."

Update: The ICBL that passed yesterday in Oakville for data centres is a one-year moratorium. Honestly, to study long-term effects, one year seems so little but we'll take each win we can get for now. Link: www.facebook.com/share/p/1MP2....

Screenshot of a Facebook post by Jeff Knoll. Caption reads:

"Oakville Town Council has taken an important step to make sure we are prepared before any major data centre development comes forward (see more)".

The image on the post has text on it with the following:

Council Approves Data Centre Motion.
Council has directed staff to review policies and prepare an Interim Control By Law (|CBL) for consideration.
Official Plan and Zoning Review:
Study to examine impacts such as noise, vibration, emissions, land use compatibility, energy, water, and infrastructure.
Interim Control By Law (|CBL):
Staff directed to prepare a one year moratorium for Council to consider while the study is completed.
Special Council Meeting: Tuesday August 11.
Open to the public, streamed on YouTube.

3) There were 2 amendments added to the motion (see photo) and all voted for them to be added. 4) There was a mention of a moratorium and ICBL but the motion was not for that but they seemed open to them if their local laws allowed for it. 2/

Screenshot of a Waterloo Council Meeting. Shows the amendment points added to a motion. The text reads as follows:

Amendment:

3. Environmental considerations, impacts and best practices, including water use, electricity demand, greenhouse gas emissions, energy efficiency, water conservation, sustainable cooling, responsible operations, (in bold text) and potential impacts on groundwater, source water, stormwater, wastewater, air quality, noise, spills and hazardous materials, including cumulative impacts and applicable provincial environmental approvals and monitoring requirements. (end bolded text)

8. Indigenous perspectives, including potential impacts on traditional lands, water, the environment and culturally significant areas, and opportunities for appropriate engagement with local First Nations and Indigenous communities.

Been working on the #TIFF26 trailers spreadsheet and what some people don't know is that I do actively try to listen to what language is spoken in each trailer. TIFF lists the languages in each film but I'm still very limited since I'm only fluent in one 🙈

Screenshot of the live blog of the Mexico vs. England World Cup game. There is an infographic with a photo of 4 players with only 1 showing their face (the rest have their backs turned). The player shown is a white player for England named, Dan Burn. He is wearing the England kit which is white top and navy blue shorts. 2 of the other players are for England; one is number 25 and the other is hidden behind a player for Mexico. The player for Mexico is wearing a kit of green top and white shorts with jersey number 9. The infographic has a little blurb of text below the photo that says: 'At 34 years and 57 days old, Dan Burn is the oldest player to make his World Cup debut for England in a knockout match.". There are also "thumbs up" and "thumbs down" button.

Got asked why I was wearing a mask in this 40+°C heatwave. Told them I have a chronic illness, they apologized for asking. Wearing one even without having a chronic illness is still beneficial, since COVID & other airborne viral illnesses are floating about. The downside is the sweat and tan lines 😆

Selfie of me, an Asian woman with long dark hair, wearing a black respirator. Also wearing a striped white and black headband, a black tank top, a cubic zirconia necklace, and a gold and black pin that says "You Are On Native Land". Selfie is taken in a train car, visible by the blue seats behind me.

Today's Canada Day attire included these two items: 1) "You Are On Native Land" pin from Urban Native Era. 2) "ᐋᓃᓐ/aaniin" keychain from aaniin. (Means "hello" in anishinaabemowin).

2 photos in one. Left photo is the chest area of a woman wearing a black tank top. There is a pin on the left side of her chest that says "You Are On Native Land". It is gold outline with black capitalized text. Right photo is a close up of a red circle keychain. It has anishinaabemowin text on it in black. Text reads, "ᐋᓃᓐ" on top and then "aaniin" below it. The keychain is resting on a brown purse with other stuff hanging on it and is resting on a black and white polka dot background

What did I just read?! Shaq is disgusting for doing any of this. It's such a bio hazard too! Post link: www.reddit.com/r/nba/commen...

Reddit post with the title, 'Every documented incident involving Shaquille O’Neal, his own feces, and his teammates'.

The body text reads:
"Almost all of these take place in his time with the Miami Heat and Phoenix Suns.

Ty Lue claims that when rookie Devean George failed to bring donuts to a team meeting, Shaq retaliated by defecating in George's shoe just before a game.

Multiple former teammates, including Gary Payton, claim that shaq would save a weeks worth of his urine and feces, before pouring it on rookies unprovoked.

At random, Shaq would defecate in his hand and display it to teammates.

One particular target was veteran teammate Lou Amundson. Amundson liked to ride his bike to the arena, and it started with Shaq hiding his bike from him. It then progressed to stealing Amundson’s toothbrush and stirring it in his rectum before putting it back. It is unknown if this toothbrush was used by Amundson after the incident. Then, Shaq stirred Amundsons mouth guard in his rectum and threatened teammates with the same fate if they snitched. Amundson wore the mouthguard in a game the next day. After the game, Matt Barnes told Amundson, "Anything in your locker room has probably been in Shaq's ass. Throw it all away"

Tomorrow will be the sixth year anniversary of when my first symptoms of my Long COVID (LC) started and the screenshot of text is all I have to say for it. I would be posting it tomorrow but with my LC memory loss, I might forget, so posting it today 😆

Text that reads the following: When I am considerate and accommodating as can be for others to be able to live, and for them to live as freely and happily as possible, I am not granted the same by them. I suffer in silence but not because I'm not heard, but because I'm not listened to. When I speak up to be considered, I am selfish and not being considerate for others, for their livelihood. So, I pretend and go through the motions of what they already expect from me. But I am not living. I am not allowed to live in order for them to live. I am only allowed to only exist and can only exist for their happiness and their reputation. But If I disappear, I am selfish for ruining their happiness, their reputation, their livelihood. Yet, despite all of this, they keep telling me to live.

It is why I no longer fight for myself. I see no reason to. I keep changing for them but they never change for me. Their is no value to my life except to exist for their happiness, their reputation, and their livelihood. It is the truth, whether they admit to it or not.

Now, I will fight, just not for myself. I will fight for the ones that want everyone to live as freely and happily as possible. I will fight for the ones who are considerate and accommodating to everyone, so everyone can live as freely and happily as possible. And, that is the world I hope that can one day exist.

Someone's racism is showing. Non-English films bring Cineplex a good amount of revenue (in certain markets) than your Hollywood ones. If you don't like it, don't watch it. No one is forcing you to buy a ticket, racist. www.reddit.com/r/cineplex/c...

Screenshot of a Reddit post on the Cineplex subreddit. Post is by user: Kat-GenX. Post title reads, 'Punjabi films taking over cineplex '.

Body text reads:

"All my local cineplex complexes are showing Punjabi movies, taking up 6 theatres out of 12. HALF! #cineplex This is Canada, not India, are you slowly converting us over to foreign films and getting rid of english films? Never thought Id see the day...wow. You advertise movies on your website, and they aren't even playing here in Scarborough because your theatres are taken up with Punjabi films. Its no wonder that people stay home and stream, getting harder and harder to find something to go watch on a regular basis. I notice the States doesnt fill thier theatres up with Punjabi movies. If this trend continues Ill be going less and less. "

While 28 Years Later is the post-apocalyptic film with all the rage right now, I HIGHLY recommend 40 Acres (in theatres now!). Revolves around a Black-Indigenous family in a pandemic where food source is scarce. It deals with racism, colonization, generational trauma BUT has awesome action scenes.

Poster for the film, "40 Acres". Poster has on top a silhouette of a farm land with silhouettes of people holding weapons, as if they're defending and protecting the land. The sky is cloudy and in black and white clouds. The top left corner has the text "Get Off Our Land.". The middle to bottom area of the poster is black, extending the ground of farm land. A Black woman's face is overlaying on top and in the middle left to bottom area are the film credit details.

Glad I have no concerts at the new Rogers Stadium in Toronto. How do moving seats in the upper level (aka nosebleeds) "exceed international safety codes"?! Sry, not dying Final Destination style for a show. Building the venue was rushed & there's no roof! Source: www.ctvnews.ca/toronto/loca...

Text from CTV News article about Live Nation Canada making adjustments to Rogers Stadium after fans' complaints. Text reads:

"Live Nation Canada also said it is aware that fans felt their seats move in the upper grandstands during Sunday’s concert, but said that is “expected as part of the design of the venue,” which “exceeds” international safety codes.

“What fans were experiencing was sort of a normal flex that would happen to absorb the energy of the crowd,” Zronik said."

Today is a holiday but a reminder for Canadians (and US Americans on July 4th) that we are on Native Land. Two Indigenous businesses I have bought from: - Aaniin: www.aaniin.shop (They also platform other small Indigenous businesses on their site.) - Urban Native Era: urbannativeera.com

Black and white photo of a woman wearing a black t-shirt. The left side of the shirt (right side of the photo) says, "You Are On Native Land" in a white, capitalized block font. There is a graphic overlaying the photo that resembles a phone notification. It has "notification centre" in white sans serif font above a rectangular bubble. Above the right corner area of the bubble is a faded white "X" circle button. Inside the bubble has text and a photo. The photo is centre left and shows some black merch. To the right of the photo is text:
"Canada Day & July 4th Reminder. Support Indigenous. Shirt from Urban Native Era."

This is the final promo video where they didn't use the influencer footage (not sure if the man stepping on the influencer one is an influencer) but using the actual show scene. Source: www.instagram.com/reel/DLXSa6S...

Thread 🧵. Netflix/Squid Game are sneaky. In season 2, the recruiter steps on a bunch of bakery food in front of those experiencing homelessness. For season 3 marketing promo, they recreated the scene with influencers. BUT the final video posted is edited with the actual show scene. Influencer one👇

Q&A with Team Deakins (James & Roger) post-screening of The Shawshank Redemption at @tiffnet.bsky.social.

Collage of 3 photos in one. Top photo are individual photos of James (left) and Rogers (right) Deakins, sitting in chairs on a movie stage. The middle photo is Cameron Bailey (left) and James & Rogers Deakins (right side), sitting in chairs on a movie theatre stage. Between Cameron and the Deakins duo is a table with 2 Flow bottles. Cameron Bailey is wearing a light grey suit, James Deakins is wearing a purple 3/4 sleeve top and dark pants, while Roger Deakins is wearing a dark grey blazer with a white shirt underneath and blue jeans. All 3 have microphones in their hands and James is speaking into hers. The bottom photo is James (left) and Roger (right) Deakins sitting in chairs on a movie theatre stage. Beside Roger is a small table with a Flow bottle.

Temperature in the 40s today with the humidity 🥵. Might need to invest in a grey mask for days like today.

Selfie of a woman wearing black, has a black KN95 respirator on, and has a chain hanging around her neck holding her sunglasses. Behind her is a steel like wall with horizontal lines going across.
