Nissan: "Here's our new plug-in hybrid ute." Me: "Cool. What's the EV range?" Nissan: "300kW." "No, the EV range." "800Nm." "The EV range." "3.5-tonne towing." "THE EV RANGE." "Available in 2027." Thanks, Nissan.

EVs outsold petrol cars by 269 units last month. Which means the combustion engine one of humanity's greatest engineering achievements, only to be edged out by something that makes the same noise as a refrigerator.

NSW's new Waratah super battery delivers 850MW and 1,680MWh of storage at the site of a retired coal plant. Imagine explaining this to an engineer from 1950: "We've replaced the giant furnace with a big battery." The poor bloke would be running to the hills scream base load!

BMW revealed the iX4. Up to 828km WLTP range, 400kW charging, 387km added in 10 minutes, and a computer called "Heart of Joy". I'm no longer sure whether BMW is building cars or improbably creating sentient toasters.

@electrifythis.bsky.social have you seen this Solar powered cargo scooter? Australia seems involved in the company, but not sure if it would be legal here? youtu.be/V5FfRfIm_4Q

Jaguar type 01. 850v architecture. 515km range @ 120kph! 650 range city, Impressive. 750kw of power and over 1100 torque. The most powerful Jaguar ever made. And (if my memory is right) from $300,000 in Australia.

If AI is going to end up with a UBI, and make stuff so cheap it will almost be free, Then why is AI rapidly getting more expensive to use?

Should Australia revisit or start another cash for clunkers scheme? Getting more aussies into cheaper to run and safer newer EV? Reducing our reliance on fossil fuels? thedriven.io/2026/10/04/i...

It's time to revisit the cash for clunkers idea - but in a way that makes it fair on households
Australians driving older petrol and diesel vehicles often pay the most at the bowser, spend more on repairs and rely on cars with the weakest safety equipment.

Overall the Australian consumer wins from a price war, but not always. Hyundai will not bring the Ioniq 3 smaller hatchback EV to Australia as it can’t compete on prices with the Chinese rivals. The Ioniq 3 looked like a decent car.

"“They can take out a city, let ’em take out Los Angeles, let ’em take out San Diego. This is a very small price to pay.” either way, i think trunp is just the Trojan horse fool to distract while the real work is done behind the scenes to capture the state. hope im wrong on that

How did the USA get to a point where the president, is suggesting another nation attacking, actually Nuking the USA would be.. acceptable? "a small price to pay" pay for WHAT? allowing trump to actually nuke someone? could you imagine any other president saying those things?

seems like the weather patterns are moving south, with the usual heatwave producing ighs now south of the country meaning more coastal onshore easterly winds and less hot westerlies. winter now seems like the old summer patterns with the warm westerlies pushing the cold snow fronts far south

And according to my 80yr old neighbor. This year was the first year he can remember with no snow all winter. After regaling us stories of feeding brandy to half frozen lambs in shin deep snow. Sadly doubt those times will ever happen again.

He's also the perfect distraction for the powers that be behind him, to build their gilded generation, and for the rest to implement project 2025. you can guarantee his stupidity will mean endless headlines, and no one will give a shit about the stealing of America by the oligarchy

Yes. It’s like companies still need the infrastructure and support of what the community provides to do business. So they should pay their fair share. The need roads, rail, mail, communications, all needed to conduct business and sell products. So they should contribute.

so much money invested into AI, and how will they get a return on that investment? will it become unaffordable to most people? its also investing in its own demise, if it will displace so many jobs, then those ppl wont be buying anything. and AI isnt going to spend anything into the economy

My 800Km commute in an EV costs me just $18. including charging from a rental unit. I live in the NSW highlands and commute to South Coast weekly for work. charging includes short Supercharging occasionally, most charge is from a standard 10 amp power power outlet in a rental. youtu.be/pG0YTj2qcKI

But wind farm blades go to landfill! they used to, now they can be recycled, as are solar panels. We need nuclear!!!!! we don't, its expensive, and also has a waste problem, 200,000 barrels and decades later, still leaking. www.sciencealert.com/150000-tons-...

The second half of the 20th century was something of a golden age for nuclear technology.
