Smaller portraits from across the semester! I totally came a long way I think, it's hard to look back on the rough ones but nice to see the progress 💪

My favorite of my smaller portraits! This was actually the third portrait of the semester, made with a double primary palette.

The dreaded first portrait of the semester, facial proportions were still so rough and paint handling took a sec for me to get back into oils. This is a single triad of primaries palette, a cool yellow and cool red with a warm blue.

Double self portrait, analogous palette, done much later in the semester but at the point where we started working on our final assignments too! There's definitely some messiness here I can see, but overall the exercise of a minimal palette was a good break away from the full palettes we had worked into.

Poster Assignment for my Illustration course! I'm still figuring out digital painting, this is a combo of scanned in line-work and going crazy with smudging colors. Prompt was to illustrate the definition of a silly-sounding word, specifically from a book called "L is for Lollygag."

On my road trips between the bay area and socal i always see this slab of concrete that someone grafitti'd "the world is flat" on, meanwhile it overlooks a valley and foothills clearly not flat. Iconic. I finally got a picture. Honestly this should be a public monument imo.

Here are the rest of the windows, from the middle of the alphabet :) This project was a lot of fun to conceptualize and then paint. All done in gouache and colored pencil, spending this much time with this medium taught me a lot of what the limitations are and how I could break some gouache "rules"

N - Not a Window, letter form is in the more protruding and highlighted bricks
O - Window of Opportunity, letter form is created in the sky behind the spinning clock
P - Port Hole, letter form is highlighted in blue sections and connected through the female figures kissing
Q - Quarter Glass, letter form is a bit funky here but is in the chrome edges of the frame and bottom of the skewed glass
R - Rose Window, letter form highlighted in red and yellow, started in circular rose window and the legs of the letter continue into the lancet windows below

Here's a colored version I made of this bouquet! Colored-in digitally, all new for me but I had fun with lots of spray paint tools lol I originally designed this for a school assignment. But now that I have the design I'm using it to customize a wedding present for my brother and new sister-in-law!

Final work for this Spring semester! prompt was an album cover design, mine is for De La Soul's 3ft High and Rising! Lots of fun creating sticker designs to collage around my floating skelly, tried to capture that fun floaty feeling in ur chest when laughter is bubbling up :)
