Just like using Forgotten Island to hate on Disney, using Hexed to attack Forgotten Island is equally as toxic and harmful to both sides. Again, this is why we need to be more aware of our behavior and not just focus on the targets because this is what makes animation discourses unbearable.

"Grave of the Fireflies" is a Ghibli film based on the real life "Hiroshima Bomb."

I think it's time for me to confess something. In school, I was taught that the Hiroshima bomb was a good thing and that it was the end of the war and we no longer had to deal with any more pain or suffering. But no one ever taught me the suffering that the innocent Japanese people went through. Obviously, the people of Japan that wanted war were bad. But the ones that didn't want the war were good.

This movie's depressing. Very similar to Barefoot Gen. There's a part where Seita and Setsuko are waiting to hear a response about their mother in the hospital. And then they found out that she died. HAYPP FUCKING MOTHER'S DAY EVERYONE! It's like they took the weakest part of the previous film My Neighbor Totoro and decided to make THAT the main focus! While that film was fun and cute, this film is boring and depressing.

Oddly enough, I did enjoy the scenes with the lightning bugs (I call them that over fireflies because that's how I grew up.) when the kids were catching them.

Sad film, not for me.

Score: 2/10. D tier.
