Did anyone else watch the Tuesday night @thedailyshow.com episode and notice that the voiceover in the anti Matt Dunlap ad that played during the show sounded exactly like @jordanklepper.bsky.social? A new tactic in the Republican's deceptive campaign strategy. This is HIGHLY illegal. #mepolitics

Are you registered to vote in Maine?

#mepolitics Republicans are definitely using paid canvassers. To be fair, I also looked for paid Dem canvassing jobs in ME. Field organizers get paid $19/hr for 55 hrs/wk, but there are no paid canvassing jobs. We do it b/c we're passionate about the cause. www.canvassamerica.com/safapplyme?f...

I was knocking on doors today in Farmington - someone I talked to said that a Collins canvasser had been there a few days ago. When she asked the canvasser a question he said "I don't know, I'm from Colorado." So she is using out-of-state money to pay for out-of-state canvassers. #mepolitics

Can she hear herself talking? DNI requires extensive national security experience by a statute that she co-authored. This is the reason she is supporting a candidate with no national intelligence security experience?? That is some seriously convoluted logic.

I had the same theory.

Yes, same. Note, LePage won both of his gubernatorial elections (2010 and 2014) with a plurality, not a majority, of the vote (38% and 48%), which is an excellent argument for RCV! But is not used b/c the ME Constitution requires the winners of state offices in a general be decided by a plurality.

Sarah Hardy @swhardy.bsky.social · 21/07/2026
It seems like Rick Bennett could split the Republican vote between two despicable candidates and increase Pingree's chance of getting a plurality (RCV is not used in general election for governor). Isn't this good news? Am I missing something here?

Susan Collins Concerned That Maine Voters Might Remember Things She Has Done
“I want voters to know that I’m concerned that they’re concerned," she said.

Cyclospora, which causes explosive diarrhea that can last for weeks, was one of the 6 pathogens Trump and RFK removed from the mandatory tracking list. Ultra-wealthy ag owner Trump donors benefited. Susan Collins voted to confirm RFK. Susan does not care if you poop in your pants. #MEpolitics

From Politico: Labor organizations and the national progressive organizing group Our Revolution are backing former Maine Senate President Troy Jackson, who campaigned with Platner during the primary and got the endorsement of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) www.politico.com/news/2026/07... #mepolitics

Maine Democrats aren’t coalescing behind a Graham Platner replacement
Platner’s former volunteers and supporters are splitting across a number of the newly-announced Senate candidates to succeed him.

At least two delegate candidates in Franklin county were on the Shah slate who had not given permission. The same two were on the Maine People Power Movement slate. Apparently "slate" means the delegates the campaign estimates to have the highest probability of voting for their candidate.

Delegate vote results from Franklin caucus: From Jackson slate - 7 of 9 (77%) From Maine People Power Movement "Unpledged and open-minded" flyer (available at meeting) - 3 of 5 (60%) Only one elected who was not in either of those two groups (a well-respected county commissioner). #MEpolitics

Both things can be true. Platner wanted a say in his replacement. Jackson is Platner’s choice, why wouldn’t he share his supporter info? I assume that is not illegal. Jackson already had a supporter base, but he did seem to rapidly expand it (based on the delegate hopeful statements). #mepolitics

I'll support/canvas for Jackson if he's the candidate, but given the Jackson delegate slate machinery already in place, clearly connected to former Platner supporters, it looks like the reason Platner dragged his feet was so he could turn over all of volunteer/supporter info to Jackson. #MEpolitics

Another graph - this one is of the Platner primary votes vs the primary votes of the Governor candidates seeking to replace him (aggregated by county). Trends look pretty level, i.e. there are not any strong relationships. between the by-county percentages and any of the governor ca… #MEpolitics

It's difficult to see the Aroostook vote because Collins received 66% of the vote in both Aroostook and Piscataquis, but it is the tiny dot at the end of the purple line (the size of the points is proportional to the total votes cast in the 2024 general).

I wondered which candidate for Sen has the most support in the counties where Collins got >50% of the 2020 vote. Governor candidates have received the most vetting to date and are my top choices. Created this graph from scratch b/c the governor primary results by county were not posted. #MEpolitics

What the article says specifically is that Vought is taking over the DOGE agenda as Musk steps aside, which is not quite the same as Vought being the new head of DOGE. Though the effect may be the same.

I don’t think there will be any savings, instead there will be a cost of retrofitting the plane to be Air Force One. If the plane was really was being donated to the US, this would be an investment because the new president elected in 2028 would continue to use it during his or her term. But no.

A flower press on my daughter's Amazon wish list jumped from $43 to $50 on ~April 20. The increased cost of these kinds of one time purchases is going to creep up on people because they have no basis for comparison. I only knew the price went up because I checked the price history.

This is not limited to GenZ. While canvassing I talked to a lot of people who said they were doing better when Trump was Pres, but what they really meant was they were doing better before the pandemic. Somehow they managed to completely eliminate the whole year of 2020 from their memory.
