Sweetness @sweetness3485.bsky.social · 10hI find it funny that the Rays and Brewers get labeled by some as the anti-analytics teams. They are literally two of the most analytics driven teams in baseball. Some people think analytics boils down to homers, walks, and strikeouts. 230

Sweetness @sweetness3485.bsky.social · 12/10/2026The real concern is the defense getting roasted, I was a little worried that the last two weeks were a mirage. Their best corner is a 4th round rookie, and their d-line is still bad. The Packers were scuffling and you let them walk all over you. Not sure how you get dog walked like that… 120
Sweetness @sweetness3485.bsky.social · 12/10/2026Guess I picked a good one to miss. Probably the most disappointing loss of the Ben era. Play up the rivalry all last year, beat em in the playoffs to finally get the upper hand, and then lay an egg in the first game after that. Ultimately easy to dismiss this game as the result of putrid QB play. 230
Sweetness @sweetness3485.bsky.social · 11/10/2026I’m off to work. Bears needed to keep the game close at half, now the coaches have to make adjustments and light a fire in their guys. Bears have to play with more energy in half 2. 000

Sweetness @sweetness3485.bsky.social · 11/10/2026There are 7 minutes left! Why are you going for it? You could easily get the ball back down one, now you still need a touchdown. 020
Sweetness @sweetness3485.bsky.social · 11/10/2026Would be classic Reinsdorf. They had a three game lead on the division and desperately needed pitching and a catcher. Luis Castillo was so bad he didn’t make the playoff roster (and they’re stuck with him next year). 81 win Astros, 85 win Cleveland, and 98 win Rays, Doesn’t get an easier than that. 000
Sweetness @sweetness3485.bsky.social · 11/10/2026The White Sox sealed their fate with a lackluster trade deadline. With the landscape of the AL this year, why were they so passive? It cost them the division and a chance to go to the ALCS. It’s unlikely the AL will be this weak next year. Major missed opportunity. 010

Sweetness @sweetness3485.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Needless to say not a lot is set in stone for 2027. The Cubs need to prioritize the ceiling of this pitching staff. They need a guy or two who can pitch high quality innings. This wont be easy considering Brown, Steele, and Horton will either start on the IL, or will be coming off a major injury. 100
Sweetness @sweetness3485.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Cubs 2026 SPers contract status for 2027: Shota - FA Boyd - Mutual Option Rea - Club Option Cabrera - Team Control Peterson - FA Gausman - FA Holmes - Player Option Assad - Team Control Brown - Team Control (Hurt) Horton - Team Control (Hurt) Garrett - Team Control Steele - Team Control (Hurt) 100
Sweetness @sweetness3485.bsky.social · 03/10/2026You didn’t give up much for Gausman, but losing Rojas might hurt. Ultimately, the starting rotation lacked the high-end starters that you need to win in the playoffs. Luckily, this offseason will be the perfect opportunity to restructure this pitching staff. Cont. 100
Sweetness @sweetness3485.bsky.social · 03/10/2026The David Peterson trade was a major win. He provided 80 quality innings for essentially nothing. Huge win there. The Gausman/Holmes trades gave the Cubs the innings they desperately needed, but neither guy really made a difference in the final result of the season. Which is disappointing. Cont. 100
Sweetness @sweetness3485.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Boyd was mediocre, Taillon was awful and got DFA’d, Rea was mediocre, Shota gave them innings but continued to surrender the long ball at an alarming rate. Assad gave them quality innings, but they clearly need to add pitching at the deadline. Luckily, the Cubs were aggressive. Cont. 100
Sweetness @sweetness3485.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Without Horton or Cabrera, the Cubs were sorely lacking a top-end starter. Unexpectedly, Ben Brown finally realized his potential and flashed high end stuff. But he too suffered a season ending injury with reoccurring neck problems. Their bevy of veterans ranged between mediocre and awful. Cont. 100
Sweetness @sweetness3485.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Cade Horton went down for the season in his 2nd start. This instantly lowered the ceiling of this team quite a bit. He was one of two starters who had the potential to be a true ace. The other was Edward Cabrera, whose success didn’t translate from Miami and also got hurt multiple times. Cont. 100
Sweetness @sweetness3485.bsky.social · 03/10/2026They gave up the second most home runs in baseball behind a team that played their home games in a minor league park. They gave up more homers than the Rockies! Kinda defeats the purpose of spending big on defense. So where did it go wrong? Let’s start with the starters…. 110
Sweetness @sweetness3485.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Looking at the Cubs 2026 season as a complete picture, their downfall came from a lackluster pitching staff that suffered heavily from injuries and underperformance. They accumulated 7.2 WAR as a staff, their leading WAR pitcher was Ben Brown, who got hurt before the All-Star break. Cont. 100
Sweetness @sweetness3485.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Luckily for Jed, this offseason presents a perfect opportunity to retool the roster. Lots of money comes off the books, and practically their entire starting rotation are now free agents. I’ll have more thoughts on the future of this team in the coming days. 010
Sweetness @sweetness3485.bsky.social · 01/10/2026They entered the postseason with no obvious game 1 or game 2 starters and no shutdown relievers. Just an atrocious job by Jed building this pitching staff. They gave up the second most home runs in baseball, that’s unacceptable with the emphasis they have placed on their defense. 101
Sweetness @sweetness3485.bsky.social · 01/10/2026The Cubs season ends with a whimper. They go 11-15 in the month of September. I’m not all that disappointed because I never thought this team was good enough to win the World Series. Offense went ice cold, it happens. Ultimately, the pitching was the downfall this season. Injuries also killed them 210

Sweetness @sweetness3485.bsky.social · 30/09/2026There’s no “burning relievers” in the postseason. Your best guys pitch every chance you have to win a game. 100
