One of my dislikes in working toward an M.Ed. is the form some of the assignments take, e.g., graphic organizers. My working memory is taken up with having to figure out graphics while the information, which I find useful, falls out of my head. Thus, I passive aggressively overuse INDEED.

Yesterday, as I was welcomed into the DEI committee, I remembered being deliberately excluded from my former university’s committee because I pushed back against the administrators’ toxic framing. The guy who excluded me is now the president there.

I can just about hear that man before he received his thorough beating. There's a tone I call "reasonable man voice" which men adopt as the condescendingly "explain" things to me. I have never resorted to violence but it always makes me rage internally.

A friend had to clear her cupboards for medical reasons. I got many things from her, including onion soup mix which I have not bought in almost 40 years. The onion dip made from that and sour cream is just as delicious as I remembered.

Last day of classes for our autistic preK-4 students. Learning how to communicate with nonverbal kids has been a gift to me this past year, starting in February when I was assigned a 1:1 role with a new kindergartener and continuing through extended school year. I'm still learning.

I’m in my last week working in a pre-K summer classroom with autistic kids and I’ve loved every minute. Today the women running the program let me know they think I’m awesome. I worked so long in a toxic environment. I love the healing that’s happening.

I just found out I'll be teaching 5th graders! Woot! Special Education + 5th Grade. I'll also be making $10k more than I was AFTER 23 YEARS of teaching at a rural public university.
