Juan Martín’s daughter Ilse Márquez said she hopes the ghost bike [at Archer and Laramie] will remind drivers to be conscious of the other human lives on the road. She said Archer Avenue in Garfield Ridge is a notoriously dangerous street for bikers because drivers treat the road like a highway.

Our neighbors came together to honor Juan Martín Márquez Luna by placing a ghost bike at the corner of Archer Laramie—where he was tragically killed last week 🤍 Juan Martin’s family spoke powerfully about their father: the person he was, the example he set for them, and how much he will be missed.

Spending your money in your community gives everyone more power. For every $100 spent at a small business, $68 stays in the local economy (that's according to the SBA). 💰 Make it a point to change your habits; do not simply give your money to Amazon every time. #ILLatinoEconomicPower

“The CTA Orange Line was originally planned to extend 2.3 miles from Midway to Ford City Mall, but the extension was dropped in the 2010s. That decision now reads as consequential, as Ford City itself is being considered for a speculative warehouse development.”
