I like Gretchen Whitmer. Nothing against her. But like Newsom she's an incredibly overrated national candidate. Including by people like Obama, whose political judgment has atrophied. Whitmer doesn't have the rizz to be a national candidate. We're in an era when you really need to have charisma.

While I do get annoyed by Ezra Klein, I do think his “abundance” approach with Derek Thompson is genuinely what the Democratic Party needs. Kamala Harris was trying to run on some of this (ex. cut red tape and build more housing) but leftovers from Biden world were not into reform.

Many of Biden's aides were awful. This was reported at the time, including that the odious Rob Flaherty was doing this. So it's not surprising it's being more fully reported now. Biden's aides helped get us what we're living through now, Kamala Harris tried to save us from it.

This article is worth reading. Democrats w/ an eye on 2028 are trying to blame Kamala Harris but the true story is she was running in an electorate that had been changing in a negative way for Democrats for some time & also was facing extreme unhappiness at Biden on prices among swing voters.
