Today my grandma and I drove two hours through the haunting back roads of rural Indiana to meet @adamcesare.bsky.social ! We passed so many cursed barns/ cornfields otw she said "good god no wonder he chose this town, Frendo could be anywhere!" Thanks for helping us make a memory we'll never forget

I've been so encouraged by the support and love for books, reading, and libraries that's come in the wake of our dear Dolly Parton's death. What I don't see is a conversation about the contradiction between libraries as a public good and those same libraries running on fast food wages.

Went down a rabbit hole a few months ago when my local gas station got an obviously gay cashier. Apparently "the look" is very real and has been studied. Gay men hold eye contact for milliseconds longer, don't break it the way straight men do w/ each other and often go in for a second glance

At the start of second grade, when I was 6 years old, the teacher had us go around and say our favorite movie. I proudly answered Rocky Horror, with this scene firmly in my mind. As a small child I knew I was different but hadn't yet known the word for that difference was queer. Dolly Parton's book The Coat of Many Colors was one of the few I read over and over.
