Together, the results show that fern invasion does not appear to have a single explanation. Phylogeny, geography, climate, genome size and ploidy may all contribute, but their roles can differ across stages of the invasion process. (8/9)

Trees on Puerto Rico were found to have considerable intraspecific variation in drought resistance. Thus, they have a potential to adapt to a drier climate. For tropical trees, this is an important finding, as such a change in climate is expected. www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Martin Diekmann is also one of us in the Swedish Phytogeographical Society. His doctoral thesis ”Deciduous forest vegetation in Boreo-nemoral Scandinavia” was published in our Acta Phytogeographica Suecica in 1994, one of the last theses in the monograph form.
