• New research project HOMEINEQ: Housing and Mobility in the Reproduction of Inequality in Spain and Europe
On 1 September 2026, the new research project HOMEINEQ – Housing and Mobility in the Reproduction of Inequality in Spain and Europe started at the Centre d’Estudis Demogràfics (CED) at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). Funded by the Spanish State Research Agency (AEI), the project is jointly led by Sergi Vidal and Riccardo Valente. Housing and residential mobility are increasingly central to the production of social inequality.

• Call for Papers – session on mobility trajectories at the ISA World Congress 2027
Together with Riccardo Valente, I am organizing the session “Mobility Trajectories Across the Life Course: New Directions in the Sociology of Population” at the ISA World Congress of Sociology 2027 in Gwangju, South Korea, within RC41 Sociology of Population. We welcome contributions examining mobility as a dynamic and cumulative life-course process, including childhood and lifetime mobility, linked lives and family ties, socio-economic and health consequences, and methodological innovations for studying complex mobility histories.

First post on here! 🫐 📢 Call for papers! 2024 Annual Meeting of the German Demographic Association & the Demographic Societies of the Nordic Countries. Submit to my & Jonathan Wörn's session on "The impact on sickness & health on family members" 👪⚕️📈, deadline is 27 Nov 23 tinyurl.com/t2cymy9e
Session title: The impact of sickness and health on family members in young families.
Chairs: Lara Bister (Milan/Helsinki), Jonathan Wörn (Oslo)

Severe sickness of a person can have a strong impact on the situation of their family members. While this is well-known in the context of older family members with care needs, this session focuses on the situation in young families, where parents live together with their minor children who fell sick.

This session welcomes contributions in three domains: associations and causality, vulnerability and resilience, and impact pathways, regardless of the specific type of illness or disability under scrutiny, including congenital disorders, mental health issues, substance abuse problems, accidents, and other health problems.
