To the person that stole my vinyl record at the Joey Valence & Brae concert tonight: I hope you step on a Lego piece.

Sven @svenluijten.com · 02/05/2026

Such a good album. Worth the wait!

Prediction: in the next 6-12 months, we'll see a resurgence of "tokenless" tools and workflows. People will flock to existing scripts and apps to deterministically handle tasks instead of spending increasingly more expensive tokens to do the same things.

Spin them on a table one by one. Quickly stop and release the egg. If it continues spinning, it’s raw. Inertia, baby.

I keep telling myself “it’s easier to stay in shape than it is to get into shape”. Good to keep in mind that this is evergreen, it’s the easiest it’ll ever be *right now*.

This local Wolfdog joined an Olympic ski event and triggered the finish-line camera. This is Nazgul. He snuck into a cross-country skiing sprint this morning and raced the homestretch with some competitors before being escorted home. 14/10 someone get him a medal

Yes. My brain moves faster than my fingers to the point my fingers just decide to skip entire parts of words.

TIL about qobuz, thanks for the recommendation! What’s your primary way of discovering new music to listen to with this setup? That’s always what’s been holding me back from doing something similar…

Sven @svenluijten.com · 21/01/2026

Sounds like you’re just using the VS Code part of Cursor.

Sven @svenluijten.com · 21/01/2026

Definitely a better wardrobe. Just underwear isn’t gonna cut it anymore.

- “Re: Analog” is great: youtube.com/@reanalog - Mihon Reko has recently gotten on my radar: youtube.com/@mihonreko - Chilled Sundays has some lovely mixes: youtube.com/@chilled_sun... And probably some more I can’t remember off the top of my head.

I wanted to definitively leave Chrome behind last year so started looking at alternatives. The obvious Arc got discontinued ("complete" 😒), Zen didn't quite click for me, and then I ran into Vivaldi. It's been rock solid in the ~6 months I've been using it daily! Let me know how it works out for ya

I'm pretty deep in the "person plays vinyl records in their bedroom" side of YouTube and it's some of the most wholesome content on the site. Just people sharing music they love for the fun of it.

Have you considered Vivaldi as a browser? You can configure vertical tabs, is built on Chromium, non-invasive built-in ad/tracker blocking, and is free of all the nasty Google-stuff.

120

Ooh that’s good, I like that!

Sven @svenluijten.com · 18/01/2026

Yep, my banking app completely disallows screenshots for security reasons. In that case I agree with them, but I agree with you in the sense that it should be a permission the user has to grant like camera or location.

Sven @svenluijten.com · 16/01/2026

To the surprise of absolutely nobody, it’s a good album. Don’t be dumb. #MusicSky

Sven @svenluijten.com · 15/01/2026

That’s horrible. Definitely one of the downsides of open source; it’s likely these tools were built using projects whose creators are so vehemently opposed to this ideology.

Crazy work, 10 minutes is massive! I struggle to get to 1 minute.

Sven @svenluijten.com · 14/01/2026

I mean, task completed successfully I suppose? 😅

Hope you feel better soon to fix all the bugs you just merged 😊😉

That looks very slick! Love the wood finish of your desk, too.

🫂 that sucks Simon, sorry to hear!

It’s just my YouTube and recipe machine now 😂

Site looks great Stefan!

Haha yeah I get that. “Markdown should just be files on disk” is stuck in my mind as well 😂

It has a bunch of standard “field types” that you can use for different database fields. For example here’s the schema for the “create or edit an article”-form in the backend. github.com/svenluijten/...

Filament is basically just a CRUD system for Eloquent models (oversimplifying here 😅). I’m storing Markdown in the db (so I can just copy paste out of Obsidian where I do my writing) and serving a (cached) rendered HTML version 😄

I’m using Filament as an admin panel for regular Eloquent models, keeping it nice and simple. github.com/svenluijten/...

3. I wanted to change it up.

000

2. I can add some dynamic content to the site without having to work around the constraints of a static site generator. There are solutions for scheduled tasks to periodically update a static site (i.e. rebuild every ~hour with Cloudflare Workers or GitHub Actions) but this is just easier.

1. It's massively lowered the barrier for me to write and publish. Previously I'd have to create a Markdown file and commit it to git, which is kind of hard to do away from the computer.
