1/2 There is a big difference between being required to show ID to vote and being required to prove citizenship to register to vote. I found out 11 years ago when I moved back to Kansas and registered to vote when I when to get my driver's license.

I'm curious as to why gender is even used as an identifying characteristic. It's not as if people will whip their junk (or lack thereof) at their polling place to be identified based on their sex.
