Suzy Jackson @suzyj.net · 29/09/2026So this is what I did with @iknowthezarbi.bsky.social ’s kransky. No, it’s not beige. 121
Suzy Jackson @suzyj.net · 29/09/2026Went out with my big Nikkor 300mm f/4.5 ED to take an up close pic of our newly planted grass shoots. @iknowthezarbi.bsky.social calls “bunny!” So I snap a quick shot of departing vege stealer. 141
Suzy Jackson @suzyj.net · 28/09/2026Bubble, bubble, toil and trouble. I’m only doing four x 250ml jars, as from experience a lot of the weight comes off in steam. 020
Suzy Jackson @suzyj.net · 28/09/2026Our mulberries are starting to ripen. We harvested 1200g of fruit, after snipping off the stems with side cutters. I mixed that in with 400g of sugar and 125ml of lemon juice, plus a tea bag of a couple of teaspoons of lemon pips for pectin. That goes on the boil for a while until it becomes jam. 130
Suzy Jackson @suzyj.net · 27/09/2026Suggest ducking up to the shops for some coffee beans with @iknowthezarbi.bsky.social an hour before #TOSSatNight . He does a remarkable job of channeling Milton from office space. To the point that I suggested buying a red stapler while we’re up there. 241
Suzy Jackson @suzyj.net · 26/09/2026Simmer that for an hour, then add half a litre of beef stock along with plenty of chopper herbs (oregano, parsley and basil), plus a generous amount of salt (1.5 teaspoons), and some muscovado sugar. The sugar cuts the acidity of the tomatoes. If your tomatoes are super ripe you won’t need much. 110
Suzy Jackson @suzyj.net · 26/09/2026Get that boiling, then add the wine and crusty bits to the pot along with half a litre of passata. 110
Suzy Jackson @suzyj.net · 26/09/2026Chuck that in the pot also. Add a dozen or so very coarsely chopped Roma tomatoes, and use half a litre of wine to deglaze the pan. 110
Suzy Jackson @suzyj.net · 26/09/2026Stir until it’s properly sticking to the bottom before dropping in a really big pot. It’s super important to properly brown the meat, as this is where much of the flavour comes from. Repeat the exercise with another kilo of cheap mince. Cheap mince is important, as it has a decent amount of fat. 110
Suzy Jackson @suzyj.net · 26/09/2026Cook that until it’s softened, then divide in two (my pan isn’t big enough to do everything in one go). Add a kilo of cheap beef mince, and brown that. At this stage you’ll have helpers. Especially if you occasionally drop bits of meat. 110
Suzy Jackson @suzyj.net · 26/09/2026After that’s cooked for a few minutes, chuck in half a kilo or so of bacon bits. 110
Suzy Jackson @suzyj.net · 26/09/2026This is how I make Ragu. It’s probably not authentic, but it’s kept my family fed and happy for decades. I start by chopping 3 brown onions, and heating these in a big stainless pan with 3 grated carrots, 3 grated sticks of celery, a crushed head of garlic and a few tablespoons of olive oil. 111
Suzy Jackson @suzyj.net · 24/09/2026I’m older :) I remember visiting an electronics store with my big brother to buy a pair of 2114 1k x 4 RAM chips so we could double the memory on this puppy and run space invaders. 110
Suzy Jackson @suzyj.net · 23/09/2026You might feel like it’s a fix, but only because it’ll make you more stupid. 000
Suzy Jackson @suzyj.net · 21/09/2026@iknowthezarbi.bsky.social checking on our herbs and veggies. 130
Suzy Jackson @suzyj.net · 21/09/2026I was taking photos of our planters. Max was perfectly backlit and looking majestic, so I snapped this lovely portrait. Nikkor 85mm f/1.4 ai/s at f/1.4, on a Sony a7rv. 051
Suzy Jackson @suzyj.net · 20/09/2026Trying to decide between a Sony Vaio C1 and Macintosh Powerfriend. I really like the 0.27Mp camera on the Vaio, but it’s let down by the power hungry Pentium MMX processor. I think the powerfriend really nails the subcompact form factor perfectly. It’s G3 processor is perfect. 021
Suzy Jackson @suzyj.net · 16/09/2026My shoe has been making a noise all day. Pulled this little guy out just now. I do love a good double-gee seed. 010
Suzy Jackson @suzyj.net · 14/09/2026Playing with our router (Aldi 4/5G mobile plan at $59/month). Found the 5G setting. Moved it out to the verandah and got this. Not too shabby. Not long ago we were lucky to get 50mbps on NBN fixed wireless at twice the cost. 110
Suzy Jackson @suzyj.net · 13/09/2026Worked on a stall at Scitech last night showcasing STEM careers for trans people. We were visited by an absolutely adorable young trans girl and her parents, who were clearly incredibly affirming. She left us each with one of these beautiful little trans flag dinosaurs, that she’d printed. 051
Suzy Jackson @suzyj.net · 10/09/2026I also still have a HP 15c at home, which is eighties vintage. 210
Suzy Jackson @suzyj.net · 10/09/2026And the real thing on my desk at work. Bought it in ‘97 for uni. Still going strong. 110
Suzy Jackson @suzyj.net · 10/09/2026I took rather a lot of pictures of this one while I was building it. Mostly wearing my fingers down to the nubs polishing. 020
Suzy Jackson @suzyj.net · 10/09/2026This is my favourite bike ever. It’s so nice to ride. Here’s a few pics during construction. 010
Suzy Jackson @suzyj.net · 10/09/2026Frame six. Again for a friend. I was getting pretty confident, so went all out with carved and polished stainless lugs. Columbus tubing, and even forks. This one was truly stunning. I’d like to do another like this someday. 6/6 230
Suzy Jackson @suzyj.net · 10/09/2026Frame five was for a friend. Oversized Columbus tubing, a little bit of polished stainless steel, really revolting colour choices. He built it with Dura Ace components. 5/6 020
Suzy Jackson @suzyj.net · 10/09/2026Frame four was for my daughter. A compartment road bike with a sloping top tube. Again, Columbus tubing. She built this one with SRAM components, a big deviation from my normal Campagnolo. 4/6 020
Suzy Jackson @suzyj.net · 10/09/2026Frame three was a replacement for frame 2 after I broke it, having done perhaps 10,000km. I was heavily into Audax at the time, so it was a fairly direct replacement. Columbus Zona tubing, Henry James dropouts. I still have this one 20 years later, and it’s still going strong. 3/6 130
Suzy Jackson @suzyj.net · 10/09/2026Second one was made for Audax. Rpad racing geometry, from memory 72 degrees head and 73 degree seat tube. Also Columbus Zona. I bought some really nice Henry James lugs. Here’s me on it at the end of an Audax 600. 2/6 020
Suzy Jackson @suzyj.net · 10/09/2026Reminiscing about the bicycle frames I’ve made over the years. First one was a simple track frame with a fast road geometry. Columbus Zona tubing. I used to commute on this in Sydney. 1/6 650
Suzy Jackson @suzyj.net · 04/09/2026I think I should get Max a new forty. He gets such good value from them. 030
Suzy Jackson @suzyj.net · 30/08/2026Picked up some tomato and basil for the planter, but I think it’s still a little cold out, so we’re keeping them in their pots and bringing them inside every night for a week or so. 050
Suzy Jackson @suzyj.net · 23/08/2026Our rock pile from the front paddock (around 3000m2), with medium dog for scale. Rocks vary in size from bigger than dog to smaller than dog foot. 040
Suzy Jackson @suzyj.net · 22/08/2026Latest vintage computer shenanigans. Upgrading my FreeBee design to do pixel (rather than character) defined colour, plus adding a Z180 at up to 27 MHz to actually shift all those dots around. 050
Suzy Jackson @suzyj.net · 19/08/2026Just said “Por qué no los dos?” unironically to my staff in a meeting. I’m down with all the memes! 051
Suzy Jackson @suzyj.net · 15/08/2026They’re so deep! I have a set that is about as different to those as it’s possible to be, while still being for a bicycle. Ultra lightweight aluminium rims with single (tubular) tyres with Campagnolo Record 28 hole hubs. Very nineties. Lovely for climbing, terrifying for descending. 110
Suzy Jackson @suzyj.net · 13/08/2026Never mind pedestrians, here’s my whole car (a Toyota 86) vs a Ford 250. They can’t even see other cars. 1227
Suzy Jackson @suzyj.net · 09/08/2026I used to do photon detectors on stacked peltier modules that looked rather a lot like that. 2323
Suzy Jackson @suzyj.net · 08/08/2026@iknowthezarbi.bsky.social and I are espresso addicts. Our cat Sam, also. 130
