![In femonationalist politics, the protection of women is posited as a priority. Women are to be kept safe from violent men; from the damage done by abortion to the family; and in particular, from the knowledge of the possibility of gender transition, by which methods their cisheteronormative reproductive capabilities would be removed. Therefore, it can be seen that the posited ‘protection’ of women is really a conduit to the repression of women - to keeping them in their place in the household, undertaking reproductive and child-rearing labour, and following a cisgender and heterosexual schema for life. But it is vital to note in considering this picture that, in a white supremacist society such as that in which we live, the women who qualify for this protection/repression are white women, and the children they are envisioned bearing are white children. The rigid gender binary as we know it is part of the hegemonic white supremacist ideal of society - “[d]imorphism,” writes Butler, “serves the reproduction of the normative white family.”](https://cdn.bsky.app/img/feed_thumbnail/plain/did:plc:selsekqxn4n6hgtgn2mo4gqy/bafkreifvtwct3ykzehkqwzkukstos2icwiiyo7lhdbkedmvcckj2ffne7q)
