I will say that there is a sweet spot of chasing trends and also writing for love. I pivoted to cozy (which made me a six figure author) because it was selling but I genuinely enjoy writing them, too.

If I could offer one almost-always-good piece of advice, it's when you see a bunch of people up in arms about stuff, look to the established authors (like 10+ years). If they're not freaking out, don't waste your energy either.

I also have a mad to do list (hello coping skills) and when there's a rabbit hole I want to go down, I add it to the "things to accomplish during admin week" project, then tackle it when I have space. Also on this list: Scheduling a social date and one self care task.

One thing I highly recommend for full time authors with the hyperfocus-brand of ADHD is to schedule an "admin week" between drafts. It gives me a week of buffer if drafting goes to hell, and it also gives me a week to tackle the boring things I didn't have the executive function for earlier.
