Seismicity map of the region of today’s M5.1 Ojai earthquake. Aftershocks have blue outlines and suggest a rupture length of about 8 km, which matches with the mainshock magnitude. Based on distribution, earthquake may have ruptured towards the NE. 🧪⚒️

Tsunami warnings are issued after scientists have reviewed information from seismic data, sea-level gauges, and buoy stations. By improving the speed at which we detect underwater earthquakes we can improve #tsunami alert time.
