Some sheep I met today. Think they've got an album coming out next week.
Two sheep posing magnificently on a massive lump of Peak District millstone grit on the edge of Kinder Scout.

Multiple options Peak District stile for @lakesstiles.bsky.social Stile, dog gate, random extra liftable gate. Very commendable.
A large wood structure across a moor path. A dog hate, extra gate and stileare visible.

Bet no one can guess where I've been today. 😁

Now resolved to approach all hiking planning in rugged, manly fashion like Brad Pitt in Heart of the Beast. May need to borrow a dog. Not sure the big stick/knife combo will go down well on the Cumbrian Way, though.
Still from Heart of the Beast. Brad Pitt, looking rugged, is looking at a map on a box. There's an orange tent next to him. A brown and black dog is looking at him, slightly skeptical.

Stuck in traffic next to the local vets for a bit today. Have had "the dog with a cone on its head" playing to the tune on "the boy with the thorn in his side" in my head since. 🐶

@tinywriterlaura.bsky.social Absolutely loved Awakened. Please write more books. Kept saying to my boyfriend "I'm not sure what this actually IS, but it's brilliant." 😁

Non members booking for Piranisi and next tranche of Bayeaux Tapestry tickets out on same date. 😂 When I need to manage work, boyfriend's shift system, accommodation for my mother for both and existing mad mountain commitments. It's like some kind of Ludwig level logistical challenge.

I'm emailing map tap to tell them it's called Yr Wyddfa, in case you're wondering what I'm productively doing with my Wednesday afternoon.

This is also my key takeaway. Also, the Met Office lied to me today, he could've mentioned that.

The Mill are brilliant, and this is a fab offer for any young thing in the Manchester-ish area, especially if they're into journalism, politics or just general Manchester *stuff*.

Up the usual hill, nice to be back on home turf. Met a sheep that was channeling Greta Garbo. Good sunset, headtorches for the way home.
A sheep staring moodily into the distance. It's on a rough moor, with an orange sunset behind.

Morning. Back to work. 😥 Pegged out the laundry* and nearly froze to death. Winter is coming. ❄️ *How can two people produce so much laundry? It's astonishing.

Thing I was most excited to see in Coventry Transport Museum. Definition of iconic. 💙

Forgot Philip Larkin was born in Coventry until we stumbled on his star this afternoon. "Nothing, like something, happens anywhere." I wonder how he'd feel about his star? Quietly pleased, externally grumpy, I expect.
A metal star ended in a cobbled square. It reads "Philip Larkin, Poet".

Early start this morning, heading (most of) the way home today. Cornwall gave us a good send off though.
A golden sunrise. Under the horizon you can see mist gatheringin the valley.

So many wonderful stiles today! This won, though. Steps, slight squeeze, tangled brambles adding mild jeopardy. On St. Agnes Head, North Cornwall. @lakesstiles.bsky.social
A set of rough stone steps leading to a tiny gap between a wall and a banking.

Wheal Coats tin mine, on St Agnes Head. Apparently they filmed some of Poldark here. Can't think why. 😁 Sea behind was STUFFED with surfers. STUFFED.
A ruined tin mine on a cliff side. There's a wide, beautiful sandy beach below, with huge breakers. There's gorse, glowing yellow, all around.

Past the Equinox and into the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness. Off to peer into ruined tin mines and look for giants today.
A morning, misty sky. The sun is a bright gold disc just over the horizon.

Clouds of butterflies on the south west coast path today. Absolutely brilliant.

Simple step stile with fabulous view for @lakesstiles.bsky.social On the Lizard Peninsula, watched over by choughs. Unfaultable.
A small stone stile in the middle of a low wall. Behind, a wide expanse of cliff dropping to an aqua sea.

Brightening up already! Good old Met Office. 😁
A big sky, with a golden sun glowing through black, white and grey clouds.

A slightly murky Equinox sunrise in Cornwall. The Met Office assures me it's brightening up later, though, and they're never wrong. 😁
A view over green fields and hedgerows. The sky is grey, but there's an edge of rosiness at the horizon.

Circumnavigated St Michael's Mount in the kayak. Feel like Magellan. Have triumphed over the wild ocean.* Rewarded with a black treacle flapjack and a posh lemonade. 😁 *Quite a small bit of Mount's Bay.

Stringed Figure (Curlew), at the Barbara Hepworth Museum in St Ives. So very beautiful. My favourite from today. 💙
A curved bronze sculpture, with a series of strings appearing to draw the curves together.

Fabulous things from the Barbara Hepworth Museum in St. Ives. I could have spent all afternoon (all week!) in the garden. Such a different experience from seeing the sculptures inside. Firstly, Sphere with inner form.
A circular, bronze sculpture. A white rose is growing in front of it. It's slightly green with age and exposure.

Cormorant on a stick. Do like a nice prehistoric wing flap from a Cormorant.
A cormorant with wings out, on tree trunk extending into a green river.

Been kayaking up Frenchman's Creek. No Frenchmen spotted, but lots of kingfishers, egrets and herons. Had to be careful though, clearly pirates, brigands and smugglers about.
A rustng boatwreck on the edge of green, wide river, shadowed by overhanging trees.

Been hanging round on Bodmin Moor with some neolithic/early Bronze Age stones and sheep. They did not have the secrets of the stones, but we found an excellent cake shop afterwards, so all was well.

Very definitely not the usual weeknight hill. Included some lovely ladies having a drumming circle and a chap with a fabulous beard who may have actually been Odin. You don't get that on the West Pennines.
A view from Glastonbury Tor. There are people clustered around the summit tower and the edges of an orange sunset on the horizon.

Have paused on sanding doorframes for lunch. Facing real risk of not returning to sanding doorframes in favour of lying on the sofa with a book.
Roman Casas's Decadent Young Woman painting: a woman in black period clothes is sprawled on a green sofa. Her right hand arches over the sofa back, holding a yellow book.

Things I was frightened of as a child.
Image from the 1953 film War of the Worlds. A three cornered spaceship with a periscope thing is setting fire to buildings on a city street. It is, in retrospect, really not very frightening.

Dug the daylight lamp out this morning. Bus stops were teeming with college going teenagers with freshly dyed blue hair as I drove back from pilates. Think I might need to find a warmer cardigan to sit through this morning's calls. 😁
Rain drops on a window pane. Grey skies and green trees beyond.
