the blood and soil guys are right to some extent. your heritage and birthright are being forcibly threatened by violent thugs. and that heritage and birthright is called a secular multicultural democracy with vague pretensions towards egalitarianism and lawful order

If accurate, this is a massive own goal by @abigailspanberger.com. Public-sector employees in VA worked their butts off to elect her last year. More importantly, they deserve the job security and a real voice at the table that come with collective bargaining. vadogwood.com/news/labor/b...

is life just a series of days where you're tired in the afternoon and wide awake at night, running behind on weekly deadlines, and seeing pants get slim and big and then slim again over the years until you die?

Here’s the bottom line for what’s going on with Grok - if the owner of the website is putting his thumb on the scale hard enough for the chatbot to turn into Goebbels, you should be deeply concerned about what he’s doing to the algorithm that you can’t so easily see, and what it’s doing to you

I guess when you can succeed in ousting a series of university presidents primarily w/often unsubstantiated allegations & threats, you can be as sloppy as you please. I’d love to see the evidence from DOJ that UVA has failed to comply with its EO regarding DEI. More, can DOJ show evidence of harm?

republicans operate according to a moral economy where wealthy oligarchs and polluters deserve the collected prosperity of the nation because of their wealth. the job of the rest of us is to toil for their benefit.

“To dismiss [Victorian stories] as old-fashioned is to assume they are outdated because of the passage of time. But the collective pain of child mortality was eradicated not by time, but by effort… And these successes… can unravel if people begin choosing differently about health precautions.”

Infectious diseases killed Victorian children at alarming rates — their novels highlight the fragility of public health today
Between 40% and 50% of children didn’t live past 5 in the US during the 19th century. Popular authors like Charles Dickens documented the common but no less gutting grief of losing a child.
