According to official government figures for average weekly income in retirement, a single person might expect an annual shortfall of over £60k if relying on retirement income alone to fund a move into a care home, or over £130k for a couple. 1/2

The government has made its decision on Local Government Reorganisation in Surrey. It has confirmed that Surrey will move to two new unitary councils from April 2027. These will be East Surrey and West Surrey. 1/7

Small, closed spaces such as stationary cars can get dangerously hot very quickly. Keep children in prams or pushchairs shaded. Make sure there is adequate air flow and check on them regularly to make sure they don’t overheat. More information: orlo.uk/C2BeR
Look out for people who might struggle to keep cool. If you have vulnerable family, friends and neighbours, make sure they are aware of how they can keep themselves cool

We are sad to announce the death of Mark Sugden, County Councillor for Hinchley Wood, Claygate & Oxshott. Since his election in 2021 Mark worked tirelessly & passionately for his community. His passing is a tremendous loss to all who knew him. Our thoughts are with Mark's family.

During the 2024/25 tree planting season, we planted over 49,000 new trees and hedgerows. Since 2019, we've planted 768,832 trees across Surrey. That means we're well on our way to hitting 1.2 million new tree target by 2030 - one for every Surrey resident. orlo.uk/2e4Ob
