So I wonder if the story will actually address this colonial dynamic, and explore it on a less superficial level. Or in any other way critique who we are now considering to be the 'hero'. Perhaps that's what they had planned, and I am judging to early. 6/7
A screenshot from the game "The Eternal Life of Goldman" that shows the in-game map, currently focus on the location "Hanoch's End". There are multiple islands, each looking fantastical and mythical in nature. The description of the current location says "The secluded ranch of Hanoch, a big fellow who is something of a loner. Only Hanoch can get you to the Temple of Asmodeus."

Goldman so far kind of seems like an asshole (or he was poorly written). He barely responds with any emotion when that would be appropriate, and repeatedly comes across as hurried or annoyed to me. It doesn't seem like he cares about the people that live here, though he is obviously a visitor. 5/7
A screenshot from the game "The Eternal Life of Goldman". The Hero, Goldman, seems to be running across a a sleigh. The sleigh is being pulled by white beasts, and there is someone at the head, steering the sleigh. There are fireflies pretty much everywhere.

People even repeatedly regard you as their "saviour". In addition, during the game you are collecting gold and treasure from this unknown land, taking it for your own or using it to generate wealth by selling it back to the inhabitants - a narrative and image straight from colonial times. 3/7

Product page says that they "Far from mindlessly [rely] on cliché and formula". Though the setting so far is as follows: Goldman, a white man, is "the chosen one" called upon to save the indigenous inhabitants (depicted in various colourful manners) of this apparently savage world. 2/7

Just played a portion of the demo of The Eternal Life of Goldman. So far it looks and plays absolutely fantastic, talking about it's art in anyway is doing it a disservice. One must play it for themselves. I do worry about something regarding it's setting. It has a weird, colonial dynamic to it. 1/7

Also what the HELL is with that KH collection cover art for the Nintendo switch?! wat in the slop is this
A screenshot taken from the Nintendo Direct on 9th of june 2026. It shows the promotional cover art for the Kingdom Hearts Collection [1~3], to be released on the 8th of October, 2026. There are some probable indications that at least portions of this image were generated by AI, like some of the background imagery and the subjects themselves. Donald, Goofy and three versions of Sora can be seen (from the three different games). DOnald has 7 vingers for example and the details on the outfits seem a little typical of AI not exactly knowing it's generating. And the details in the background turn into vague squiggly lines, also typical of AI. There could be just some weird AI upscaling happening as well.

Fuck yeah
An excerpt from the solo RPG journalling game "HORSE GIRL". It says:

"For the full experience, I'd recommend you play the game completely naked while immersed in nature. Start with Month #1 and begin the game. For your first month, roll the die twice and pick the higher number. Do not pull from the tower."

Bumped into Quinns, probably the last thing I expected to happen on Friday, and my reaction showed. He recommended the solo RPG Horse Girl (3-1144). I gave it a quick read and it sounded horrible, but in a good way. Bought it. Curious to give it a go ASAP, feels like I can learn a lot. (3/5)
A picture of the zine for the solo TTRPG "HORSE GIRL" by Samuel Mui. The cover art shows a red and color negative picture of a woman, posing seemingly hurt and scared (subjective). Juxtaposed over it is a frontal picture of the head of a horse, also in color negatie but blue.

#UKGE Highlights so far: Bought the game Nasty ones. Quick and Nasty(!) combo-ish game, play like a typical competitive card game but very easy and accessible. Similar satisfaction but faster play. The art is amazing with unique illustrations on each card as well. Goofy and loveable. (2-381) (1/5)
A picture of the card game Nasty Ones with some of the contents out. You can see the Health and "Nasty Points" tracker which show two serpent/dragon-like creatures, bodies intertwined. One is black representing Health Points, the other is white, representing Nasty Points. The background is rainbow colored stripes.

There is also a sticker with "Nasty ones TCG" printed on it, featuring various characters from the game on a white background. You can see the box art (which is in similar fashion as the sticker, but the background is all black and it's more of a wide angle). A prominent feature on both the box and the sticker is a monster-like open mouth with sharp teeth, with the words "NASTY ONES" inside, with two eyes on top, one red and one blue. Both eyes are squiggly swirled(?) with brown eyebrows. Inside the box you can see two decks of cards, showing a card from the game on each. The layout of the card is typical for a TCG or CCG-like. Name on top, costs in the top-right flavourful picture in the middle. Stats right under it (attack and defend in this case) and an ability depicted in a box at the lower half of the card. The cards on top are depicting "Apocalyptic Cerberus" and "Depraved Teahcer" respectively, each in a goofy and quirky manner.

#SwordoftheSea is an absolute blast. It really does feel as if they have combined aspects of all of their previous Giant Squid Games (Abzû, The Pathless) and I love every bit of it so far. Much love towards @giantsquidstudios.com and good lord @awintory.bsky.social came through AGAIN!
A screenshot from the game 'Sword of the Sea'. It's a wide shot looking down on the protagonist (Wraith), as they are hovering/surfing over a giant body of water. The shot has been framed such that the only thing you see is Wraith, the water, and the foam created from his hovering/surfing.A screenshot from the game 'Sword of the Sea'. It's a wide, frontal shot of the protagonist (Wraith), as they are hovering/surfing over a giant body of water. In the background you see some giant rocks and mountains in the back, and some banners are planted in the water a bit closer. It shows an action pose of the wraith as they are steadily balancing on a mythical sword which functions as a hoverboard/surfboard. Behind them you see the foam created from them surfing on the water.A screenshot from the game 'Sword of the Sea'. It's a wide shot of the scenery of the game. It shows a wave from a giant body of water within a desert, the protagonist (Wraith) small and further away, can be seen hovering/surfing over this body of water. Behind them are some stone and sand (desert) structures. Behind those are some mountains and giant rocks, and far behind all of that a giant hollow pyramid can be seen ontop of a mountain. It seems that there is a giant pillar from the desert that reaches far into the sky, seemingly with no end. My thoughts so far is that it's in fact a large stream of sand pouring down. Finally, the sun can be seen in the back in the sky, looking quite hot.

My #SteamNextFest thread. Now that I have played the demo's I want to play, I want to especially Highlight the Following greatest hits in no particular order: Death Howl, Rue valley, MotionRec, The Royal Writ and Consume Me. Most excited for their releases! Lmk about the gems you found!
The cover image of the game Death Howl that can be found on Steam. It depicts the protagonist, a female scandinavian neanderthal holding a bow on the right side of the image. She seems to be distressed, as she is hugging a young, ghostly deer/scag. In the game this is revealed to be her son in spirit form. It's her quest to get him back. The game title "Death Howl" can be seen on the left of the image, with "A soulslike deck builder" as a tag line. "Play demo now" is added at the bottom. The Steam cover image of the game Rue valley. Under it is titled "Updated Demo Available".The Steam Page image of the game "The Royal Writ". It's shows some of the cards that can be found in the game and the richly dressed protagonist king firing a musket. Drawn in an animated style. The steam page picture/banner of the computer game Consume Me. It depicts the title of the game accompanied by the protagonist holding a toast. The title and protagonist are drawn in a pixel art style, mimicking a type of logo that can be found on a chocolate bar. A small bite has been taken from this logo.

Rue Valley: Very interesting detective/mystery CRPG (not like Disco Elysium, more like TRPG), don't want to say much but I didn't read the synopsis and I was hooked. It picks up quite slowly but it's very promising! Awesome art style and visuals, lovely presentation. #SteamNextFest #RueValley 13/?

Death Howl: OH BOY. Deckbuilding, Soulslike elements and tactical combat. Presentation is immaculate and the the first few minutes of gameplay were strong - intense. Deckbuilding is interesting but I feel like I haven't fully grasp it yet, but looking forward to do so. I want it. #SteamNextFest 11/?

MIO: Memories in Orbit. Metroidvania. Feels like Hollow Knight, coming from someone who never played Hollow Knight. I wasn't sure if I'd like it first, but the intruiging setting turne dme around. Depending on the length, I might buy it. #SteamNextFest 10/1

In the background a few flying robots can be found, including a giant robotic arm most likely about to grab the protagonist. "Play the demo now" can be read at the bottom.

Everdeep Aurora: The graphics + presentation are really nice, but gameplay-wise the demo didnt help me understand what the game offers MotionRec: A cute and innovative puzzle platforming game where you can record your movement in space to play later, and solve platforming puzzles that way. Neat! 9/?

Consume Me. It's not just fun and amazing in it's premise and execution. Games like this one are also just important. By gamifying the experience they can tackle the subject in a very approachable way and present it to audiences that otherwise wouldn't have interacted with the topic. #steamNextFest

Yo can we talk about The Royal Writ? This game is amazing. Finally game that tries something new and isn't cumbersome in the process. The presentation and artsyle is amazing, and the gameplay is genuinely fun and easy to get. I want more! #SteamNextFest #TheRoyalWrit 6/?

Recently picked up 5-minute Dungeon, excited to get this to the table. It's been on my list for a while but an English version was long unavailable. From what I have seen online, this should be a blast with the folks I usually play with! #boardgames #blerdsky

Other games that can be seen are: Bargain Quest, Architects of the West Kingdom, Thunder Road: Vendetta and Bohnanza. Depending on your screen brightness, you might also notice Air, Land and Sea: Critters at War.
