I use the Fiesta fajita seasoning when I grill flank steak and it's pretty good stuff! I'd try Hamburger Deluxe but @businesssocks.bsky.social has her own secret blend of spices which I always use when we make burgers and it slaps so hard, I call it "Burger Me Daddy".

When I got my first job and moved into my own apartment, I basically lived on Pizza Pizza for almost three years. And they would deliver until 4am! And then I moved to the United States, thinking this was such a more advanced country, and not being able to get a pizza delivered after 9pm. Like, wtf?

I grew up in southern Ontario, and this was 30 years ago mind you, but East Side Mario's was pretty serviceable Italian food. Hard to fuck up but it didn't distinguish itself either. I wonder if they still use the old "East Side Mario's, East Side Mario's, hey badda boom, badda bing" jingle.

Languages are so cool! I am obsessed with the concept of ablaut in Germanic languages, so I've been drilling the kids on verbs in English that demonstrate this and asking them what the past tense is, e.g. "'Choose?' (they think for a bit) 'Chose!'" and it delights me every time!

Whoa, super interesting! I hadn't even thought of the phonotactical aspects of my initial musing! I wondered if maybe "-er"/"-est" could only be used with colors which descended through Germanic language roots because those languages tend to do that for comparitives. But seems it's more complicated!

Colors are comparable, right? - Greener pastures - Whiter shade of pale - Bluer skies So then why does it seem so weird to see the word "oranger"? Maybe it belongs to a class of colors that are so specific that they are no longer comparable: *"chartreuser", *"indigoer", etc. Hmm!

My wife and I were in Montreal for a few days a decade ago and having grown up near the Ontario-Quebec border, I speak Quebecois well enough to pass as a native. But living in Texas for 25 years, I got used to Spanish. So it only seemed natural when I asked for "une verre de vin rouge, por favor".

For the last year and a half, I've been working on a silly little Android football game in my spare time where you draw the players' routes then play as QB to try to get as many yards as possible. The game as yet has no name, but in my testing, I'm finding "Unforgiving Hitboxes" is an apt subtitle.

My kids go to a Title I school where a large proportion of the student body live at or below the poverty line, and yeah, I feel for the kids whose families can't afford to buy books for their kids. This is why school libraries are so damn important as a community resource.

I don't know off the top of my head of an address to SYS that will clear the screen (though there's bound to be one for sure), but I think PRINT CHR$(147) would work just as well for something to use when writing BASIC in VICE and can't remember how to key in a SHIFT+CLR/HOME.
