Silly game event. Just curious which method would earn more!

People get so many energies per hour, and about 3 half hour boosts a day (points earned go up 30% during those boosts), and get currency (by spending energy) they can use for a permanent boost to their percentage throughout the (about) 5 day event, so each energy counts as more at the end of the event.
People also get extra energy, either through ads, or earned like the boost currency.
Again, you literally earn the boost currency by spending energy, so someone who saves the extra energy will actually be behind in boost percentage at the start of the last day.

Some players swear by saving every bit of extra energy and using it only on the last day of the event, I personally use them any time I have that 30% boost to earned points.

Basically, I'm wondering which method will wind up earning the most points, or if there would even be much of a difference?
The reason I play the energy, is because I feel like saving it actually devalues the main energy that accumulates over time, because you'd be playing that energy without the extra boost you could get from the tokens.

(The basics of the amounts are (I believe) 15 energy accumulated every hour, and every ten tokens (boost currency) gets you 0.2x bonus percentage. Tokens are unpredictable, as there are 'failed' attempts when using energy, but a full 15 energy *could* earn anywhere from no tokens, to 22 tokens, and the likelihood of failure doesn't change throughout the event, regardless of percentage boost or energy used.)
