Organizing a worker-led solidarity union comes with the same legal protection as any other type of union, the law makes no distinction Successful unionism of course relies on coworker solidarity and a viable overall strategy, not legal filings. But still important to know legal landscape

P.S. Fletcher spent the latter years of his life in New York City, in Brooklyn. He, one of the all time great leaders in revolutionary and labor history, is buried in an unmarked grave. A long effort is in motion to change that, and progress is being made on that front.

We need a different labor movement We need a full reckoning inthesetimes.com/article/cesa... by @ana-exaflcio.bsky.social @inthesetimes.com
Unions are responding to the Chavez revelations in the same way they did seven years ago. So far, all we have seen are statements expressing shock and sadness, and support for survivors. Those are little more than the hollow “thoughts and prayers” politicians send in times of man-made crises. The steps that unions have taken since #MeToo have done little, if anything, to dismantle the systems that enable sexual harassment to exist within the house of labor, and they have done even less to support survivors who were betrayed by their unions.

we haven’t launched publicly, but we’ve been building under the radar since 2022. Our first campaigns go public next year, they are worker-led-and-operated, prioritize direct action, and aim for fundamental change. Those are our hallmarks, we are happy to connect with anyone who resonates with that.

SUN came together during the pandemic, when workers in different industries interested in unions that prioritized worker control alongside racial and gender justice, found each other and started doing joint trainings. That work evolved into SUN.

Solidarity Union Network (SUN) @sununion.org · 31/03/2026
for now, the most important thing is that sununion.org provides a form for workers who need support to reach out and talk to someone at SUN within 24 hours. From there, workers connect to trainings, tools, and mutual learning spaces to build a sustainable union. And it's working.
