After a 25-year-old worker died from heat illness in 2020, the North Carolina DOL fined Florida Orange Gold $7,000 and told them to implement a heat rule. Two summers later, there was nothing to protect a 38-year-old worker from permanent disability. prismreports.org/2026/09/29/f...

This weekend we joined @workerscny and community members for a vigil to #BringCarlosHome. Carlos has been in ICE detention for 3 months, and should be home with his family.
A group of 50 or so people pose for a photo on the front steps of a stone church with three red doors. Many people hold small, brightly-colored signs that read "ICE OUT", "LIBERA CARLOS", "BRING CARLOS HOME", and "TRAE A CARLOS A CASA." People in the front center of the group hold a banner with the logo for the Workers Center of Central NY. In the foreground of the photo, a child wearing jeans and a purple t-shirt leaps off the steps with their arms outstretched, their long hair blowing behind them.

SIGN-ON: animal production workers are already 3x more likely❗️to be injured than the average worker. With the government's anti-immigrant agenda, there are fewer workers in plants, but production is not slowing down. Workers are facing extreme risks. venceremos-nwa.org/letter-of-su...
A blue flyer with text. "STAND WITH POULTRY WORKERS. Call to Action." A link to take action: venceremos-nwa.org/letter-of-support. "ADD YOUR NAME TO OUR LETTER OF SUPPORT. The government continues deporting immigrant workers, so plants are facing a growing crisis. With fewer people to meet the same production demands, workers are being pushed to their limits--putting them at greater risk of serious injuries, including amputations. WE ARE CALLING ON ALL OF OUR ALLIES TO STAND WITH THE WORKERS. We are hearing reports from workers about restrictions on bathroom breaks, understaffing, and increasingly unsafe working conditions. When companies turn up the pressures, we show that the workers are not alone. Add your name to our Letter of Support for Poultry workers!"

At the bottom of the flyer, an organizational logo reads "VENCEREMOS: Community Center Planting Seeds of Justice" featuring a large multi-colored rooster.

🥵🤒 Still feeling this heat? Imagine working in it! "For those of us who work in agriculture, the high temperatures make our work increasingly difficult and arduous." - Jose is a dairy worker and member of Alianza Agrícola, a group of immigrant farmworkers defending their labor rights in NYS.
A photo of a bright sun over farmland. Blue sky; green grass; a barn in the distance. Text is laid over the photo. It's a quotation attributed to Jose, a dairy worker in Western New York. "We have to start very early to take advantage of the cooler hours. As the day progresses, the heat intensifies." In the bottom right corner of the page page is the logo for Alianza Agricola, an organization of immigrant farmworkers fighting for fairness on the job. 😓 Food work is getting hotter and hotter. In New York, there are NO specific protections to keep restaurant workers like Karen — or any workers — safe from #ExtremeHeat.
A photograph of a digital thermostat set to 70°F with a current temperature of 88°F. A post-it note taped to the thermostat says "Do NOT touch!"

A quotation from Karen, a restaurant worker from New York City, is superimposed over the photo: "Every summer, when temperatures rise to 80, the air conditioning always fails." A young woman works in a restaurant kitchen. A continuation from Karen's quotation is superimposed over her face: "We have to work without air... we are sweating all the time."
