Completely agree. The field also critically needs biochemists, biogeochemists, and true ecologists too. To become more mechanistic rather than observational, and bounded in biogeochemical principles and ecological frameworks. www.nature.com/articles/s41...

In our latest @naturefood.bsky.social article rdcu.be/d6uiN we used dung collected at 760 sites to map livestock & wild herbivores across drylands. Our results show that livestock and wild herbivore grazing is globally disconnected & highlight herbivore activity hotspots 🐐🐄🌍
