They should up the weekly totem limit for on content ultimates to 2. With 21 jobs, I think that is feasible middle ground for keeping the raid active and granting more weapons for ever-growing jobs. No one wants to run DMU for another half year weekly. #ffxiv #ffxivraid

I long for a FF title game that is fresh & new in storytelling. I did like FF16 but it had a lot of recycled themes with a clear “bad guy.” Oh, we’re fighting god…again. I wish game studios would recognize that we all thirst for genuine creativity, free of AI, where creatives can do their thing.

I should also mention that they continuously interrupted people trying to explain things, either to them or for everyone else. As a raid leader, it was hard to communicate to my team.

Of course, studying and prep is subjective of the group. But after about a week, we were still answering questions and clarifying things that would’ve been apparent in studying. I ended up telling them we were going to replace them.

The WHM we had was falling behind in studying and prep. We opted to not use tank LB3 for BoA. Fortunately, there are raid plans and a whole sim for the strat. They showed up unprepared and objectively caused the most wipes in BoA for us.

It feels a little grimy not learning the mechs as intended. Kind of like using AM. It’s not the same thing obviously, but a similar vibe. We’ll see how it goes. I’m okay with my previous dissertation being slightly flawed, though I think I made good points.

Sigh - we’re switching to trying tank LB3 in phase 3. We can do BoA without it, but it’s not consistent. I feel like I’m eating my shoe, but I’m not afraid of change or adopting something that might help us. I do think if you’re consistent and not using tank LB3, it’s a big win.

Play the game & do the strats how you want. For me personally, I’m amazed people are willing to so easily take flexibility off the table & then potentially try to optimize 8 players’ damage when there’s 1 button that could solve it. Clean pulls with tank lb3 for BoA can do it, but at what cost?

Btw, my static did learn how to do grand octet in case we used tank LB to survive a heavensfall fail. And it saved some pulls for sure. But so you cheese and get a melee lb2 for p3, then you’re out for p4. For p4 prog, that’d work I guess. But good luck with the check.

4. Some strats are coming out to LB cheese bowels of agony aka 7-1 stack. You need a helluva lot of mit and a whole tank lb3 to get that cheese. The mental gymnastics to avoid doing a mech is astounding. UCOB grand octet is really lost media.

3. You can get 2 melee LB3 in P3 which equals 10% damage. So you’re wiping to P3 enrage or deaths to towers and stacks at the end? Wouldn’t it be nice to have a whole 10% cushion of damage to push the phase for prog?

2. You can use tank lb3 for other recovery options. You can use healer lb3 to raise after limit cut. “BuT yOu cAn’T uSe hEaLeR lb3 in bLaCk hOle.” Yes, the timing would have to be perfect, but the chance is not zero.

1. You can keep the pull going if 1-2 dps dies in phase 1/2. Hit LB for phase 2 & keep prog moving forward. If you do this & learn how to do bowels of agony correctly, your pull won’t be dead in the water because you never learned the mech and need 3 full ass bars of LB.

Preliminary evaluation: UMAD is harder than TOP. Granted I didn’t do TOP on content. BUT I also didn’t do TOP with auto markers. The lack of cutscene between p4 and p5 in UMAD might seem like a small detail, but it can really stress your mental game. It’s a long haul of p3 - clear.
