The Burned Furs were around in 1998. Heck, only a few years earlier That Guy Who Used To Be A Big Name wrote his unpopular "Six Shallow Graves" editorial in an attempt to "take back" 🙄 the fandom. This stuff was probably going on even before I joined in 1993. Same old story, only the names change.

The biggest mistakes those folks made were trying to improve Furry by trying to kick people out of a fandom anyone could join, defining themselves by what they weren't, and trying to set themselves up as "one of the good ones" by putting everything they didn't want folks to see in the spotlight.

I’m not the biggest fan of the sequel trilogy overall, but the idea that there isn’t an overarching theme is patently incorrect. The ST was a hot mess narratively, but had a theme: Legacy. Specifically, how legacy shouldn’t define the future, no matter how hard others try to hold on and force it.
