"A Year at the Movies: One Man's Filmgoing Odyssey" is an incredible book by Kevin Murphy of @rifftrax.com fame, a beautiful and intelligent account of a year of daily moviegoing. Because the year was 2001, it is a stark account of our culture shift.

I had like 45 students. They were rad. I felt responsible for them. I felt terrible that my mistakes had wasted their time and money. So before I'd caught my breath, I was revamping the method and re-organizing the curriculum.

Like the first time I went surfing, I spent the rest of the day glued to the couch in the dark with exhaustion, still feeling the waves under me. Teaching felt like that. After one hour of all that weird attention, I'd just lay on the balcony floor with the dog and cry.

The Anno games are so alluring, so hypnotic. Don’t sleep on their soundtracks. They’re labors of love. I’ve been doing some writing on the one coming out soon. The storytellers on this title are so good (not just me ☺️). I love going through the editor just reading their work. This game is a gem.

I found a farm near my new German home. There are vending machines there for eggs, ice cream, oil, vinegar, pasta, dried fruit, potatoes, and other oddities. I bought quail eggs. I bought the scissors to open them. Now I need recipes for quail eggs.
