In Math by the Book, Grade 1, we use a hundred cent chart. You can color to explore coin values or use color tiles to cover each cent. Or you could use grid paper to make models for comparison (Math in Practice gr 1). Then make a 100 chart from the grids. @heinemannpub.bsky.social

Have you read Counting on Fall? Students love rereading familiar stories! Could one book launch multiple math lessons? Ten on a Twig by Lo Cole works for counting backward from 10, 1 fewer, minus 1, or combinations that make 10. When you find a good book, revisit the context for more lessons! @nctm.org @mathedleaders.bsky.social

I just saw this book at Kohl's as one of their $5 Kohl's Cares books. It is a beautiful story about how art transformed a neighborhood. We use it in Math by the Book (Gr. 4) to dive into art/math connections as we observe lines and angles in artwork. #heinemannpub www.MathbytheBook.com
